Second, any movie with Adam Brody should be laughed at. And thirdly, Batman could so kick the snot outta Superman if he wasnt made to be liked to the image of god. So this movie will blow harder than Superman Returns! (Reply to this) |

thereign writes: on Dec 05 2007 08:59 PM While BrianInSD makes a good point about George Miller's record for good films(and how we all need to relax), the simple fact is that ALL of us are armchair movie jockeys to some degree. Warner Bros. is taking established characters which fans have loved for decades and RUSHING a film into production with a less-than-stellar cast of virtual nobodies(Armie Hammer???) to appease a twentysomething crowd, when a cast of veterans with known TALENT are clearly needed. The thing is, no matter how good a director Miller might be--and for all we know, the script could actually be so awesome that just reading it might make one cream in their pants--if the ACTORS are not capable of delivering the dialogue earnestly, it all falls apart. Go rewatch 1st season episodes of the science fiction ensemble series Babylon 5 as an example: GREAT storylines, but in some cases the guest-stars(particularly the guy who plays "Jinxo" in the episode "Grail") suck so badly, it takes all of a viewers' good will and faith in the story itself to get past the bad acting. Back on point: The cast is terrible. How can Batman be the skilled, razor-sharp martial artist, crime fighter and detective we know him to be, at the age of 21? It's not possible! Same thing with any of the other heroes--it takes TIME to hone powers and skills such as the ones these characters possess; in many cases, power enough to tear the planet apart. Could Superman really have mastered his powers by the age of 20? Could Barry Allen(or Wally West) really know all there is to know about how to UTILIZE his speed at such a young age? No. Sad to say, the movie will make money--at least on opening weekend. Curiosity will prevail, no matter what(and we ALL know we're all going to be there)...but hopefully, JLA will die a rapid death shortly thereafter. (Reply to this) |

BrianInSD writes: on Dec 06 2007 12:16 AM In reply to this comment (#1331450) Your points are both pleasantly rational and very well said. You are quite correct in your assertion that these characters should be played by older actors. One of the MAJOR problems with Superman Returns was that Clark/Superman and Lois were both played by actors who were in their early 20's. This, despite the fact that they were both supposed to be world-famous reporters who had a fling when they originally knew each other 5 years before the story began. It also didn't work because they were trying to insinuate that Superman Returns was the REAL Superman III, even though in the REAL Superman II, Lois and Clark were both in their 30's. I will remain cautiously optimistic that, if anyone can pull this off, George Miller can. (Reply to this) |

Inmate Nagooyan writes: on Dec 06 2007 07:09 AM When news of this film first came out I was excited by it's prospects, now I'd just assume they play it on the WB so naive people aren't suckered into paying to watch it. Aside from Megan Gale (who's hot as hell) there is NO reason to get too excited about this movie. Adam Brody, and Scott Porter and Common? Come on!! I think I'll go vomit now. They seem to be holding off on announcing Batman's casting, maybe as a sign they got someone marketable? Seriously doubt it though. Christian Bale needs to stay thee hell away from this clusterf**k. Besides he's just been confirmed for T-4. The way the casting seems to be going, my best guess is that either we're either going to end up with Matthew Fox, DMX, Frankie Muniz, Weird Al Yankovic or Stone Cold Steve Austin playing Batman. Actually, Steve Austin would be funny as hell, they may as well cheese it all the way at this point. (Reply to this) |
