Carlos Monson plays Marco, a drifter from the south of Italy who arrives in a northern village with only a music box to his name. Looking for work, he involves himself in an altercation between some factory workers and its owners, speaking movingly on workers' rights before getting tossed out with the trash. Taken in by a poor blind girl and her caretaker, Marco learns that the town is divided between two wealthy ruling families, the Manzettis and the Belmondos. He offers his services to both of them, then hatches a plot to turn them against each other, to the benefit of the workers. But Marco's motivations aren't as selfless as they seem, as he has some secrets of his own, which may reside in the music box to which he is so attached. [More]
