Lucas on Connery's "Indy 4" Involvement
by Scott Weinberg | May 07, 2007
Discuss Article
We haven't seen much of Sean Connery since "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," but if George Lucas has his way, the legendary actor will appear in "Indiana Jones 4." But if not, oh well.

"We have a script with him in it," he said. "If he doesn't do it, we'll do a quick rewrite."

That's precisely what George Lucas said to one source, which basically means "We'd love you to be in the movie, Mr. Connery, honestly. And we're definitely prepared to compensate an actor of your stature and experience accordingly. But don't play hardball or hold out for some ridiculous amount of cash, because we can just as easily move forward without you and it won't make one nickel of difference at the box office next summer."

At least that's how I see it.

Hope he does it. Pay him at least 20 million. He's worth it compared to most actors these day's who aren't worth 20 dollars an hour.

Give him a 20 million dollar check and then pack everything up and skip town before it bounces.

Connery can save his revenge for when he plays Lucas in the biopic!
"Come on Mark do the scene!"
"I'll do my best Mr. Lucas."
"You're best?! Losers are always wining about their best! Jedi's go home and f**k the prom queen!"
"Was Leia a prom queen? I'm confused."

Category: JONES, INDIANA
Connery: Hah, I've got you now Trebek! I'll take my "Jones In Diana" for $1000!
Trebek: That's "Jones, Indiana" as in the movie where you played his father, you idiot!
Connery: Well, Papa got Diana while son was trampsing around the desert looking for a cup!
Trebek: Well, I see we've sunk to an all time low.
Connery: The only thing I sunk was your mother last night!

I love how Weinberg always has to interpret quotes for us. Maybe it just means if Connery says no, they'll have to re-write the script rather than re-cast him. Unless you can read George Lucas' mind, really there's no point in interpretting what the man said. Plus, I think wer're all smart enough to come up with our own interpretations thank you very much.

And yes... we've heard this before. Any reason to repost it as "new"s? Hardly.

Hopefully he does it, I love the Indy movies and I heard Connery will probably retire soon, so he should end his career with this and not LXG for goodness sake.

Just have Daryl Hammond do an impersonation of Sean Connery for the Indiana Jones movie. A little digital tweaking, and nobody's the wiser!

I sooo hope he does it. When Connery's good, he's good. And under the direction of Spielberg, is there any doubt? I haven't seen good ol' Sean in a long time, and it's be nice to see him in a production as good as this.

Yeah, he deserves to retire with his last movie being an awesome one.

I hope Connery does it. It would be a shame for him to go out on LXG...
