Although the premise of getting or not getting a first driver's license is a solid-enough base for 90 minutes of teenage comedy, License To Drive misses the point on all counts.

And Les had better pass, cause his younger buddies are depending on him to free them from the onerous malady of parental vehicular dependency. Adding to his pressure is his hot date with Mercedes (Heather Graham), a super-babe, that Les has lied his way into. Les fails the test. But he's not discouraged because when you haven't got it, you can fake it! So he steals his grandfather's near-vintage, baby-blue caddy that's just back from the shop. Once the wheels are out on the road, it's no turning back for the teens on the town. Too bad everything that could go wrong does go wrong, as Les's cool evening out becomes his worst nightmare. Reviews for License To Drive
Everything you've ever hated about American teenagers, their music, money, fashion sense, their values, and most of all their pin-ups, in one auto-destructive movie.
...as a breezy, mindless little comedy, License to Drive undoubtedly fits the bill.
Anyone old enough to have a license is probably much too old to be amused by License to Drive.
It's the two Coreys at the height of their popularity; make sure your children avert their eyes… by gouging them out if necessary.
I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I liked this movie. The Coreys were actually funny in this one.
About all that's worth noting is that the Caddy gets demolished and that the stars remain intact (though practically everyone will wish that it were the other way around).
Up until about the halfway mark of this movie, I was having a very good time. Then, somehow, it ran out of energy.
