In this all-star cast -- ingeniously concealing Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis, Frank Sinatra, Robert Mitchum, and Burt Lancaster -- Adrian Messenger, before departing on a fateful plane trip, leaves a list in the hands of George C. Scott, a retired British Intelligence agent, which contains the names of 11 men who have "accidentally" died under mysterious circumstances. The unravelling of why these men, who had nothing in common outside the fact that they all were prisoners of war in Burma, were murdered is finally discovered, but will it be in time to prevent the death of a 12th potential victim, who has nothing to do with the others. A captivating murder mystery, and although the viewer finds out fairly early on who the killer is, the mystery of his motive and the suspense of his capture are sufficient to keep one glued to the screen. Full Review |

An even more damaging miscue is the utilization of stars who are hidden behind facial disguises in fundamentally inconsequential roles. Full Review |

Reasonably entertaining old-fashioned creaky whodunit. Full Review |

Saddled with an incredibly creaky whodunit plot, this thriller should really have been set in Victorian times to accommodate its villain with a passion for disguises, its Holmesian detective in a bowler hat, its murder in a fog-bound Limehouse. Full Review |
