Dreday writes: on Sep 05 2007 07:16 AM "As many of you will recall, the last time Cage played a character in a tropical setting, he strapped on a bear suit and ran around in the jungle for last year's Wicker Man remake. We could only hope for similarly fantastic results out of a Cage-led Magnum P.I. adaptation. Cross your fingers." :D (Reply to this) |

Sorry Nic, you 've had a couple movies that you actually did act well in but that's it. I think I'm even stretching it by saying 2 movies.....probably more like " Leaving Las Vegas" and that's it. renodc writes: on Sep 05 2007 08:37 AM Why can't they just write a script for Magnum that shows the character 20 years later and use Tom Selleck. What kills most of these TV to Movie remake productions is that the original actor was so good and made their character so iconic that it's virtually impossible to replace them with another actor. Tom Selleck as Magnum is a prime example. (Reply to this) |

crudebob writes: on Sep 05 2007 08:54 AM That's it. I'm totally confuseld. (Reply to this) |

jstrmereel writes: on Sep 05 2007 09:29 AM fung - anything good that Cage has been in is more due to a good screenplay and supporting actors than Nic Cage himself. He sucks. I can't believe his name was even being thrown around when casting for Superman was being considered. Good actors can make you forget they are in a bunch of other movies because they play characters so well. Nic Cage is the same damn character in every film. (Reply to this) |

jacketman writes: on Sep 05 2007 10:02 AM He is a good enough actor he just is in some sorry movies. Like this one would end up being. He can't pull another Cuba Gooding! (Reply to this) |

Prosper761 writes: on Sep 05 2007 11:25 AM Dear God, why the hell do the studios continue to churn out horrible movie versions of old TV shows? (That's a rhetorical, by the way - I know it's because the studios are run by dunder-headed number-crunchers without an ounce of creativity in their souls). Please, I'm begging you all - stop going to see remakes and sequels and maybe, just maybe, they will get the hint and start making interesting original films again... Oh who am I kidding? Audiences will contniue to swallow the swill that the morons keep feeding them... sigh... (Reply to this) |

knowingtoast85 writes: on Sep 05 2007 12:44 PM I have a great idea for a movie with comedy and crime-solving that Nic Cage should read. It's called President Gumshoe, and it's about a US President who runs the country by day and solves murder mysteries at night. If we need to target the other three quadrants in the idiot demographic, we can add a talking dog who loves rap music and and old man who swears a lot, no problem. (Reply to this) |

Bear45 writes: on Sep 05 2007 04:36 PM Cage always gets all these cool parts. But he's always terribly miscast into these cool parts. I'd be totally insecure if I was him and got the offers he gets. "What? You want me to be Superman?" "What you want me to be a convict?" "What? You want me to be Ghost Rider?" "What? You want me to be Magnum P.I.?" and so on, and so forth... (Reply to this) |

Rated_Xpert writes: on Sep 05 2007 05:55 PM Just because it was on TV doesn't mean it should be a movie. I mean what's next doogie hauser md the movie? While we're at it, how about Airwolf, Knight Rider, A-Team, Sea-Quest DSV or TJ Hooker. And who said it has to be action or sci-fi, what about cheers the movie, 3's Company or Quincy MD? Not everything should be a movie! (Reply to this) |

eastern2western writes: on Sep 05 2007 11:30 PM What is everyone so mad about? 1) Magnum PI is never brilliant to begin with 2) If the material is directed by a capable director, then a good movie may come out of the whole production. 3) Nick Cage definitely needs a break or something because he has bee making too many movies lately. 4) John Woo would be a horrible choice for this type of movies because the humor within this type of material is way too american for him to handle. John Woo is good at making movies that are set in a surealistic world (Mobfias, gangsters, supercops), but he is kind of weaks in movies that are base on reality (Windtalker was simply horrible because woo just can not handle the materials well). 5) The right director should be someone who is good at handling comedies and also knows how to create cool action scenes. BourneFan10 writes: on Sep 10 2007 01:10 AM Tom "Magnum" Selleck, if nothing else, was attractive, despite his voice. What woman would be attracted to whining, balding Nicholas Cage> And Russell Crowe? Please. If a Ferarri, or whatever kind of fast, foreign car, is going to co-star in the movie, I want someone good-looking behind the wheel. (Reply to this) |

jeanpaul writes: on Sep 10 2007 03:14 AM Some one should tell poor Mr. Nicolas cage, that IMPERSONATING the late Mr. Elvis Presley (OK, OK, Sorry! for the sake of Nick's mental health we'll admit that Elvis is still alive...)--- every single time and in every single movie is NOT (NOT!!) called acting. Still, Nicolas Cage is one of my favorite actors, and will remain so. At least he is not "full of himself" like that narcisstic Clive owen... (Reply to this) |

bsierens37 writes: on Sep 10 2007 09:26 AM Cage isn't right for Magnum. I fear it would turn into his latest attempt at impersonating Elvis. Not always a bad actor, just some poor choices for how he portrayed a few of his roles. I think Magnum needs to be someone who can play loose without seeming so corny. Vince Vaughn comes to mind as a possibility. He's got an imposing stature like Selleck too. Not to say that Vaughn is a better or more diverse actor than Nicolas Cage... I just think he's an example of a better fit (as long as they don't try to make it a "Frat Pack" movie). I like David Duchovny's dry wit for the role too, but it could be too much to ask to forget that he's Mulder. On the other hand, maybe they should just get a newcomer with no strong association to previous roles (a la Hugh Jackman as Wolverine or Brand Routh as Superman). Higgens will be tricky to cast too. Hopefully they don't fall back on Michael Caine as the token British guy. Alan Rickman or Bob Hoskins could make for an interesting Higgens, but it all depends on what angle they intend to take with the character. (Reply to this) |
