Lions Gate Slips Into "Skinwalkers"
Those Lions Gate folks sure do love their horror movies ("May," "Cabin Fever," "Saw," etc.) and they've just announced another one that's due to his the screens next year. "Jason X" director James Isaac will helm "Skinwalkers," ...
... which The Hollywood Reporter describes as a story "about a 12-year-old boy who suddenly finds himself at the center of a battle between two warring groups of werewolves." Lions Gate aims to start production on the werewolf flick in the fall, and you can keep an eye out for their "Devil's Rejects" and "Saw 2" later this year.

There's a lot more available on the internet, and it's sounding pretty interesting, so far. Stan Winston Studio will be doing the effects, and I think they're the ones who did the Terminator movies, Spiderman, etc., so at least that will be cool. I've been following the available data, including online blogs from people who've worked on and in the movie, and so far it's promising to knock your socks off! 2) Movie titles aren't copyrighted, especially ones as generic as "Skinwalkers." It's like calling a movie "Vampires." Can't really own that. 3) It's not a 12-year-old lead. He's being fought over by two warring factions of werewolves, one 'good', one 'evil'. So he's like the football, and the 'factions' are like the ... I don't know, Greenbay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jason Behr is the lead, as the 'evil' vampire Varek, and on-set interviews with him and others, plus the account of one of the extras on the film, have been making it sound *really* exciting. It's supposedly going to be rated 'R', as well. The director and writers have a really fresh, cool take on the concept of werewolves—it's not going to be all prosthetics and special effects in the transformations, but rely more on the acting, concentrating on the forces warring inside an individual. The interviews make it sound really cool. (Reply to this) |
