Gwyn discusses her dysfunctional family and love life... When a young woman accepts a marriage proposal, she questions her decision after discovering that everyone in her family is unfaithful. Gwyn discusses her dysfunctional family and love life with her psychiatrist: her mother is having an affair with Antonio, the young, exceptionally passionate man who cares for her ailing grandmother, while her brother Jordon is cheating on his pregnant wife with his business partner's beautiful spouse. At the same time, Gwyn's father is making whoopee with a travel agent Zelda. Into this messy situation comes Antonio's mother, who's demanding to meet his girlfriend. Antonio begs Gwyn to pose as his beloved even though she's already engaged. She agrees, and during their pseudo-date, the two begin to fall in love. A breezy romantic comedy in the style of Woody Allen. [More]

Looks, sounds, and feels like a Woody Allen comedy given a shot of adrenaline. (published 2-17-95)
Reveals how the consumer ethic has diluted traditional views of marriage so that it is held hostage to our desires for new experiences, self-fulfillment, and endless variety
