Reviews for Monument Ave.
Though very much in the vein of Scorsese's masterpiece Mean Streets, Ted Demme's bleak and downbeat tale has its distinctive merits, not least of which is the acting.
As soon as the script turns serious, the film slows to a languid crawl, and ends up as a slight retread of all-too-familiar elements.
A realistic, hard-boiled peek at an old Irish, close-knit neighborhood, in Boston's blue-collar Charlestown section.
