Trailer Bulletin: The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Unwrap all the undead adventure!
Brendan Fraser, Maria Bello, Jet Li, and a whole mess o' undead terra cotta soldiers are headed for a theater near you...and Universal has just unveiled your first extended glimpse of all the action!
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is opening August 1, and the first teaser hit the Web today, offering just under two minutes of wisecracking big-budget action from the Far East. What's that you say? You have no idea what the plot is, and you're dying to find out? Well, just sit back and let Universal tell you all about it:
Brendan Fraser returns as explorer Rick O'Connell to combat the resurrected Han Emperor (Jet Li) in an epic that races from the catacombs of ancient China high into the frigid Himalayas. Rick is joined in this all-new adventure by son Alex (newcomer Luke Ford), wife Evelyn (Maria Bello) and her brother, Jonathan (John Hannah). And this time, the O'Connells must stop a mummy awoken from a 2,000-year-old curse who threatens to plunge the world into his merciless, unending service.
Doomed by a double-crossing sorceress (Michelle Yeoh) to spend eternity in suspended animation, China's ruthless Dragon Emperor and his 10,000 warriors have laid forgotten for eons, entombed in clay as a vast, silent terra cotta army. But when dashing adventurer Alex O'Connell is tricked into awakening the ruler from eternal slumber, the reckless young archaeologist must seek the help of the only people who know more than he does about taking down the undead: his parents.
As the monarch roars back to life, our heroes find his quest for world domination has only intensified over the millennia. Striding the Far East with unimaginable supernatural powers, the Emperor Mummy will rouse his legion as an unstoppable, otherworldly force...unless the O'Connells can stop him first.
But wait, there's more -- director Rob Cohen has just "enhanced" his production blog, so after you watch the new teaser (link below) and feel yourself fill with a burning desire to learn more about all things Dragon Emperor-related, you can just mosey on over to RobCohentheMummy.com (link also below). How thoughtful!

![]() on May 16 2008 06:05 PM Has potential to be better than The Mummy Returns but if anything it will at least be a fun action film like Scorpion King. (Reply to this) |

on May 17 2008 02:02 AM wow guys, way to flame... Although trailers rarely tell you what the movie will truly be like, this movie looks to be the good ol' popcorn fair that the original Mummy was. I don't think this movie is trying to be the next Raiders of the Lost Ark so lay off the pressure. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 17 2008 12:25 PM The trailer is unavailable, but you can watch it by using the HD link and opening it in WMP. It looks pretty damn bad. I didn't even see a mummy in the whole damn trailer; its just Jet Li kicking people. As soon as I saw Rob Cohen as the director, I thought to myself (oh, I now see why it looks so bad). ![]() on May 17 2008 05:37 PM In reply to this comment (#1738408) okay, rockster11, if opinions are allowed then you have to accept some people choose to hope and want this movie to do well!! And you know what the trailer has me really looking foward to it. Hell, i know it could be another rush hour 3 but here hoping its an August surprise. Plus, I always root for Branden Fraiser, descent guy deserved a better career. (Reply to this) |

on May 18 2008 02:18 AM In reply to this comment (#1738408) Rockster, I have not censored anyones right to display their opinions, all I did was simply note the hostile attitude that this movie has received, and suggest an alternative way at viewing the picture. But, I guess the fact that I disagree with your infallible views about future box office projections means my opinion is worth dirt :) Dougle, Your on the money about Fraiser's career. Wished he had a better one too (although Encino Man was great). (Reply to this) |

on May 18 2008 07:12 AM In reply to this comment (#1737763) I agree on the trailer. Looks good. Looks real good, actually. Will almost certainly be better than The Mummy Returns. Let's not even talk about Speed Racer... As for The Incredible Hulk, that's where we part ways. I think The Incredible Hulk trailer looks solid and am looking forward to seeing it. I'm also pretty curious as to how they've done the promised Iron Man cameo. Loved Nick Fury's little scene in Iron Man, though I'm not a big fan of that 'after the credits' stuff. And as a side note, for the future of Marvel films (this particularly for those who were disappointed with Daredevil, Elektra, and the SM3 debacle), it's important that both Iron Man and Incredible Hulk do good business at the box office. I saw Iron Man twice. I'm doing my part. ;-) Looking forward to Marvel Studios' next two productions, Punisher: War Zone and X Men Origins: Wolverine. (Reply to this) |

on May 18 2008 01:00 PM This trailer makes it look pretty much how the trailers for the first two movies made them look; Like a Rob Cohen Movie. Kinda fun, kinda generic adrenaline rush. Will I go see it? almost certainly. Will I be surprised when it doesn't completely rock my world? No. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 21 2008 04:12 PM In reply to this comment (#1737275) well since you saying something that does not concern you and plus I think that the son does not look that older than Brendan Fraser. (Reply to this) |
