"Transformers" Posters and "Ocean's Thirteen" Pics!
by Binh Ngo | March 28, 2007
Discuss Article
Two new posters for "Transformers" have been making the rounds since Monday evening when they first appeared on Ain't It Cool News, beating USA Today to the punch. One poster, with the word "protect," shows the side profile of Optimus Prime, the leader of the benevolent Autobots, while the other, features the side profile of Megatron, the leader of the menelovent Decepticons, with the word "destroy." These two will face off in the event known as Wrestl...er, "Transformers," coming to theaters July 4.

Wait, there's more! We got new pics of "Ocean's Thirteen" as well. In this sequel to "Ocean's Twelve," the Ocean crew hatches an elaborate plan to defraud another wealthy mark. Al Pacino joins the cast that includes George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and Bernie Mac. Steven Soderbergh returns as director. Sadly, the movie does not have a worldwide day-and-date release. "Ocean's Thirteen" will be in US theaters June 8.

Most of the big releases this year are sequels, so we know what to expect and how they're gonna feel. "Transformers" is the dark horse and something we have yet to experience on the big screen. So I'm looking forward to it. Fingers crossed.

WOW, I was so skeptical about this movie, but the pics are begining to convince me it may be ok! Just put up the Autobots one as my background on my computer! It's awesome!

Well Dsk2Dwn, I'll probably have to conclude then that my nagging desire to put Megatron as my wallpaper is indication that even though some of the pictures are proving a delight, the force of my skepticism over this film remains in play. I was watching Dirt the other night though. Not sure how many of you are familiar with the show, but in the episode Lucy (Courtney Cox's character) is speeding away from paparazzi photographers. It's a pretty intense chase, but what's significant about it is that she's driving a Solstice. I thought of Jazz. I'm thinking maybe that's not a bad car for him after all. Still, I couldn't overlook the fact of how elusive the Solstice is because of its small size. That's more Bumblebee than Jazz. So... I've got some hope for this film, but just like the mind flips the images our eyes reflect right side up so that the world makes sense, my mind keeps making that Solstice yellow and that Camero white. If you get my drift.

This movie is guaranteed FUN, but whether it'll actually be any GOOD is another matter. I had fun watching Armaggedon or however you spell it, but I wouldn't clasify it as GOOD. But I definetely want to see Transformers.

Those figures looked too elaborate to me. Character is totally lost in lines and details. Any hope I had of this movie being fun went out the window.

I think I agree, Erick. I've been talking with many believers who consider me an enemy for being skeptical about this film. But the truth is that there's a lot to be skeptical about. The poor choices for Bumblebee and Jazz's cars, Prime's "pimp my ride" paintjob, Starscream's hideous robot mode design, just about everything about Megatron, the gratuitous focus on the human characters, the film's own producer's misgivings over the result of key decisions!
I'm up to my nose in skepticism. But still, I remain somewhat hopeful. There are some designs I like and others I can be convinced of. I just can't allow myself to get my hopes too high. Someone's gotta play devil's advocate. And until these problems are addressed or at least redeemed, one has to wonder whether this film is going to deliver, or if it's all just another overexpensive hype.
