Luke Wilson: I Need "Old School 2"
by Fred Topel | May 08, 2007
Discuss Article
About a month after Ivan Reitman announced he was in possession of a new draft for an "Old School 2" script, star Luke Wilson got excited. He hasn't been privy to the screenplay but he's already committing to it.

"That's the best news I've heard," Wilson said. "I'm always kind of hoping in the back of my mind for Will [Ferrell] and Vince [Vaughn] to kind of bomb so they have to do it because I need it. That would be great."

As long as the original screenwriter and director are in place, Wilson has no concerns for the sequel's quality. "I always had confidence that if Todd Phillips, who directed it, and Scot Armstrong, the guy that he wrote it with, I just know they wouldn't want to ruin the goodwill of the first one of the people who seemed to like it. So I just would figure would have to be just as good if not better but that's pretty cool."

With at least a third of the acting team ready to go, Reitman should really messenger a copy over to Wilson's office. " I always get people asking and I just never know. It's the kind of thing where once a year, somebody will call like my agent or something and say, 'Would you be up for doing Old School 2?' I always say, 'Yeah, definitely.' It'll probably end up being me and two guys besides Will and Vince."

Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell will never do this.

...which is a good thing. Not that I don't like Luke Wilson, it's just a sequel to Old School is a bad idea

I think Will would do it. He seems to still actually like making movies regardless if it will be a blockbuster. I wouldn't mind a Old School 2.

see, I didn't much care for Old School in the first place, so a sequel sounds pretty shitty to me. Will Farrell needs to start doing more good acting instead of his character roles, because he was great in Melinda and Melinda and Stranger Than Fiction. Vince Vaughn needs to do more screwball comedies, cause he used to SUCK as a dramatic actor (Domestic Disturbance or Psycho, anyone?)

Luke Wilson needs to get back with Wes Anderson and make another one of those amazing films. Too bad he wasn't in The Life Aquatic.

I don't think it'll be that bad. They need to get more of the "frat pack" involved, though.

Dream on bub! Will Ferrell would swim in a vat of week old chickenshit if a producer stroked his ego and weenie. Ferrell's a one trick hack who's nearing the end of his career and he's smart enough to milk it for all it's worth while he can and Vaughn is just a Ferrell wannabe. Now them's fighting words so come on you Ferrell boytoys!

Unlike his other fellow frat pack members (Ferrel, Owen, Stiller, Vaughn, Carrell, Black, and Seth), Luke isn't making that much money, so yea, he needs Old School, but Ferrel and Vaughn do not.

And Bob, Ferrell makes blockbuster, after blockbuster, after block buster. He's not even close to the end of his career

I don't really think they need Ferrell to make a sequel to this movie work. He was great in Old School but a sequel could work with another comic in a similar role the only person they have to get back besides Wilson is Vaughn.

Will Ferrell will do any movie his friends ask him to. He even did crap like "Superstar" and "The Ladies Man". If Luke and Vince are in, so will Will.

old school isn't the type of movie where a sequel is appropriate. i would love to see ferral and vaugn work together again, and i dont mind luke at all. it would be nice to see them in something NEW, not just a sequel/prequel/remake/rehash

I think Luke Wilson is being tongue-in-cheek with that "need" stuff, but LOL if he's serious.

I wanna see the trio driving a winnebago down a highway during college break, and pick up Borat filming another documentary. Put 'dem four in a vehicle, I say.

Will Ferrell has already said that he wouldn't do a sequel to Old School (I think it was on Leno) even though he has been approached many times to do so
