Boss Spearman (ROBERT DUVALL), Charley Waite (KEVIN COSTNER), Mose Harrison (ABRAHAM BENRUBI) and "Button" (DIEGO LUNA) freegraze their cattle across the vast prairies of the West, sharing a friendship forged by a steadfast code of honor and living a life unencumbered by civilization. When their wayward herd forces them near the small town of Harmonville, the cowboys encounter a corrupt Sheriff (JAMES RUSSO) and kingpin rancher (MICHAEL GAMBON) who govern the territory through fear, tyranny and violence. Boss and Charley find themselves inextricably drawn towards the inevitable showdown as they are forced to defend the freedom and values of a lifestyle that is all too quickly vanishing. Amidst this turmoil, life suddenly takes an unexpected turn for loner Charley when he meets the beautiful and warm-spirited Sue Barlow (ANNETTE BENING), a woman who embraces both his heart and his soul. As these courageous men prepare for the decisive battle that looms, they are also forced to confront and conquer their own internal demons. -- © Touchstone Pictures [More]

Does Costner think that none of us have ever seen a Western before? The film does have one hell of a good shootout at the end, But Lord, does he make you wait for it.

El film, hermosamente fotografiado por James Muro, es como un ejemplar perdido de una especie en extinción. También lo es, en cierta manera, su coprotagonista Robert Duvall.

...a cordial and welcome film with likable heroes, dastardly villains, and a rousing climax. It does nothing innovative, but it doesn't need to.

Intriguing and clever enough to keep us gripped, even though nothing very surprising happens.

Um faroeste habitado por personagens interessantes e que conta com um dos tiroteios mais realistas do gênero.

[I]n Open Range, Costner sets out to boost the genre... with a... story that draws from the best traditions of the western without sinking into cliché.

The latest Kevin Costner vehicle is his best in years… and if you can get past the slow pace of the flick, it’s a welcome change from this summer’s other offerings.

Costner’s epic, as director, is one to behold, not for its 24th hour sentimental about-face, but for the existential knack it has for the pacific, the stately and the quiet.

It takes forever to get to where we've been before -- way out West, where the sun set on the western a long, long time ago.

Open Range is a bad case of a much too open-minded director in terrible need of a good lasso

An engrossing moral viewpoint combined with three solid star performances is more than enough to make Open Range one of the best of the modern day Westerns.
