We want to thank everyone who submitted love poems to our Paper Heart Twitter Contest! Paper Heart's very own Charlyne Yi and director Nick Jasenovec personally read through entries to hand pick one winner and one runner-up from hundreds of submissions; find out if your entry made the Top 20 after the jump. And while one lucky winner will get to attend tonight's Paper Heart red carpet premiere in Los Angeles, the rest of us lucky readers get to peruse the sometimes heart-breaking, often comical odes to romance submitted to the contest. Read on for the winner and Top 20 Finalists of RT's Paper Heart Twitter contest!
Paper Heart stars comedienne Charlyne Yi as Charlyne Yi, a girl who's never been in love. As director Nick Jasenovec's "documentary" crew follows her around the United States, Charlyne talks to people of all kinds to find out what love really is. Along the way, a burgeoning romance with Michael Cera complicates things...how will it all turn out? Paper Heart is in select theaters August 7.
In the name of true love, we asked our readers to submit their best Paper Heart-themed love poems, restricted to 140 characters and under. Submissions were accepted via Rotten Tomatoes' Twitter account (follow us today!) and hand-picked by Yi and Jasenovec themselves. Congrats to our winners and to everyone who participated! (User names noted as Twitter handles below; if you like a poem, give these fine folks a Twitter shout!)

GST writes: on Jul 28 2009 06:06 PM @trbenedict and @themattdavis were the best. Who are they on rotten tomatoes? I admit, I had a damn hard time reading trbenedict's, but thanks for the translation... it made it beautiful and a lot more meaningful to me. Oh, and @flashlitetag's poem was creepy... but kind of romantic, still. I would have have entered something if not for the MUST BE OVER 18 rule. (Reply to this) |
