on May 13 2008 06:54 PM I love Uwe Boll. I'll never subject myself to one of his movies, but I do love him and I hope he is making movies for the nest 40 years. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 13 2008 07:04 PM I'll agree that his continuing effort-- though its sad to think he actually WORKS on these things-- is a somewhat admirable trait. But when lined up with studpity and re ineptitude, that makes for a terrible combination. And I find it ironic that Boll called Bay's film the worst ever, when all of his films are exponentially more terrible (and lower rated). And I agree with hamboner; it just sounded like he was trying to be smart and make people think "Oh, he likes great films." And notice how the only ouide movie reference was to "There Will Be Blood"-- the most recent film hailed as masterpiece (the nuances--or entire whole--of which he could probably never understand). Oh, and where's the site for the petition? I would love to see what happens if a million people actually signed it (I doubt he would admit defeat). But I like how he hasn't made a wide announcement about the site--so basically no one will know about the petition. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 13 2008 07:29 PM Note that Uwe Boll is very vague in description for all 5 of the movies he listed...can we verify that he has in fact SEEN the movies he claims to love? (Reply to this) |

on May 13 2008 08:36 PM what a douche (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 13 2008 08:49 PM Considering how well he raises funds for his own films, wouldn't his becoming full-time producer and stepping down from the Director's chair be a fair compromise? It's a shame to have to (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 13 2008 08:51 PM ahah gotta love his can do attitude. although he is filled with don't want. (Reply to this) |

on May 13 2008 09:03 PM Favorite Films: 1. The Godfather - Perfect Movie 2. On the Waterfront - Best Single Performance Ever, Best Scene Ever 3. One Flew Over tbe Cuckoo's Nest - Amazing Performance by Nicholson 4. The Searchers - Most Underrated Single Performance Ever 5. The Royal Tenenbaums - This film has an odd whimsical feel that I just love 6. The Graduate - Very funny, being in college it is very easy to still identify with its themes today 7. Duck Soup - Funniest movie ever 8. It's a Wonderful Life - Most Endearing film ever 9. Pinocchio - Best Animated Film Ever, Period. 10.Platoon - Best War Movie Ever 11.The Godfather Part II - Almost as good as the original 12.Empire Strikes Back - Better than the first, odd that the best movie in the series was one that Lucas did not direct himself 13.Jaws - Might be the easiest film to just sit down and watch at any time 14.E.T. - Only film that I will admit to crying during (in theaters) 15.Citizen Kane - Perfect, at times it is too perfect 16.Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory - Just for Wilder's amazing work 17.Fellowship of the Ring - still the best in the series 18.Red River - Another performance that Wayne deserved Oscar consideration for 19.Unforgiven - Great, dark Western 20.Terminator 2: Judgement Day - Pure Entertainment Honorable Mentions: The Matrix, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters, Toy Story, Incredibles, Young Frankenstein, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Dumb & Dumber, Rushmore, Alien, A Night at the Opera, I could go on and on (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 13 2008 09:06 PM This guy's an idiot. "Once we Were Soldiers or Warriors or whatever." I wouldn't be surprised if he compiled this list from others' lists or from "supposed classics" lists without ever having seen any one of them. And if, in fact, he has seen them, it's a testament to how retarded he actually is...and an insult to these mostly masterful films ("Dances with Wolves" is severely overrated, as well as Kevin Costner). (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 13 2008 09:42 PM In reply to this comment (#1734302) Mr. Alexanderplatz, it's wonderful to find someone with an appreciation of the works of both Fassbinder and Boll. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the world of cinema would be a less interesting place without Uwe Boll. I've probably thought about -- and enjoyed -- his movies more than plenty of other "serious" directors. (Reply to this) |

on May 13 2008 10:17 PM This man makes me feel like a battered wife who just can't stop going back to her abusive husband. I know I should break the cycle of watching his crappy movies and reading his barely-comprehensible comments (that "We Were Soldiers" line is effing priceless), but I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment. Upon first hearing about the petition, I was eager to sign it, but upon further contemplation, I absolutely refuse. The trainwrecks this guy unleashes on the world are just too bad to miss. I want him to continue making movies until he dies. I want to see a feature-length making of documentary of one of his films, if only to see this man "crafting" the ****ty end product. He is such a unique, creepy man that I want him to endure for decades. He kind of reminds me of Michael Scott from "The Office," a complete moron who has absolutely no idea of how moronic he really is. Long live Uwe. (Reply to this) |

on May 13 2008 11:06 PM Boll doesn't seem to understand the difference between "favorite" and "best" films. Michael Jordan is almost universally considered to be the best basketball player ever but does that mean he is everyone's favorite? No. Some films I really like aren't even good such as Boondock Saints and Plan 9 from Outer Space. Btw, wouldn't it have been hilarious and extremely ironic if Boll listed Plan 9 as one of his favorites? (Reply to this) |

on May 13 2008 11:27 PM FWIW (not much) I don't think he was making any of it up. His point about which movies (or books) he likes now versus, say, fifteen years ago, suggests he was being honest. If he had been trying to impress, surely he would have included some Kurosawa or Bergman. Besides, he wasn't claiming these were the five greatest films, but that they were his five (current) favorites. Also, the point he made about the difference between making Apocalypse Now and We Were Soldiers rings true. As someone who is involved in making films, when he watches one, he doesn't see only the result, but also imagines what it was like creating it. This makes me wonder what he thinks of Fitzcarraldo and/or Burden of Dreams. (Reply to this) |

on May 13 2008 11:32 PM This makes me hate boll even more. He is obviously a smart person but instead of contributing to hollywoods finest films, he keeps making bottom of the barrel ****. Uwe go to film school and learn how to direct. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 14 2008 12:26 AM I'll go top three. After that, I don't really care to know much more about my own taste in movies, so why should I force it on other people? 1. Stand By Me - the heart 2. Truman Show - the brains 3. Back to the Future - the balls (Reply to this) |
