on May 24 2008 12:47 PM In reply to this comment (#1749827) I agree completely with Siberia. His movies may not be the best, but I definitely learned a few or two about the industry from this interview. He's definitely more a of business man than a movie-maker in my opinion. (Reply to this) |

on May 24 2008 03:44 PM In reply to this comment (#1749338) Dude Im a big fan of INDY but its a total let down. I mean it really sucks, its worse than the temple of doom. I cant possibly belive it currently has a 79% rating. I came out of the movie theatre pissed the **** out, ill take my chance with Postal, it will probably suck. What i didnt expect was that INDY would. Still Ford is in great shape and Still and Alway will be INDY and not some punk. (Reply to this) |

on May 24 2008 08:44 PM I like how he tries to explain how he is really making money (when in all reality he is losing it). How does he feel that he is going to get a fresh rating with "postal". The highest it ever was on rt was 32 (but that was about a couple of weeks before the movie came out). And if you compare the two sites he referenced, you can definitely tell which is better and more reliable. PS- Hey Uwe, as of Saturday, Postal is 49% below a fresh rating. (Reply to this) |

on May 24 2008 10:42 PM I've never watched one of this guy's movies because they all looked like they sucked before they even came out...then of course everyone makes fun of how bad they are, so why bother? When has a vidoe game adaptation not sucked? Never. But after reading this interview, I actually want to watch a couple to see what I've been missing... Thanks Uwe! (Reply to this) |

on May 24 2008 10:42 PM Uwe Boll is the man! His movies might be pretty awful, but that interview definitely shed some light on the legend of Uwe. He was completely straight up and had plenty of good answers to his questions. And as someone earlier said comparing him to Michael Bay and Eli Roth, Uwe's movies suck but at least he's an interesting guy. Keep up the questionable work Mr. Boll and I wish you success. Bummer about Postal being pulled from most theaters too (I wouldn't have seen it, but at least it would have had a chance to make a little money). (Reply to this) |

Indy 4 is an Indy movie. That should be enough. Every bit as good as Temple (which was excellent as well) and Crusade. To each his own...but to hate it? Pretty extreme. (Reply to this) |

on May 24 2008 10:49 PM I must be one of the few who can detect sarcasm over the interweb, mainly because "mastermind" and "genius" are words I doubt anyone would seriously describe this "director" with. (Reply to this) |

on May 25 2008 09:20 AM they used my question, even if that was the nicest one of the pones I suggested (Reply to this) |
on May 25 2008 10:45 AM Uwe seems to be progressing at least. While the movies are still awful, they are progressively getting less so. He may be a mediocre film maker in the next ten years. The reason he still makes movies? He makes money off them! People can scream all they want about him, but ultimately it comes down to the fact that he has his foot in the door already. When House Of The Dead made money, it was all over. He had his financing machine rolling and he doesn't have to stop until he is ready. Investors don't care how crappy his movies are. If they end up in the black, they make money. Period. (Reply to this) |

on May 25 2008 06:42 PM Mr Boll, your movies may be terrible, but I'm glad you're continuing to work, if only to keep the snippy critics inside their box-o-hypocrisy. But please, stay away from Nintendo games. Think of afflicted little children, who have only the pleasant memories of Mario or Link to distract them from their misery. Glance upon Mr. Miyamoto's cherubic face, and your mind will return to a state of peace. (Reply to this) |
on May 25 2008 09:27 PM I love Uwe! Thanks for the interview Jen. I'm actually looking forward to the DVD release of Postal. (Reply to this) |

on May 26 2008 08:41 AM I like this part of the interview where he's basically throwing a temper tantrum about demanding respect from viewers: "But who did 12 movies in seven years on time, in budget, distributed it worldwide and financed the movies? Name one other guy in the business who did that. And this is the thing what I think a lot of people should at least show respect for that." Dude, the only people who care about those stats are investors. Viewers are not investors, and therefore, don't care about your prolific nature and fiscal management skills. Make good movies, and people will watch them, thus earning you more money and respect from viewers and critics alike. It's really that simple. The other part I liked is how he explains how he manages to get "big name" actors for his films. Of course, I would argue that while these actors are recognizable, they are not "big name" actors (at least not nowadays - Ben Kingsley, oh how the might have fallen). It basically comes down to "will act for food" with most of the actors who appear in his films; paying the rent is obviously more important than self-respect. It's unfortunate, but a pay check is better than no pay check. (Reply to this) |

on May 26 2008 06:28 PM I think Uwe Boll is a perfect example of someone that has no intention of ever trying to be exceptional at his profession. The problem is that he's loud, obnoxious, and tries to fight people that give him crap about how bad his movies are. People would lay off his back if he actually made a good movie. Hollywood will forgive you if you put out quality material that people enjoy. Essentially Uwe Boll is M. Night without the top grossing horror movie of all time (The 6th Sense). People dont care that Uwe Boll is a good businessman and made a few million dollars for himself. What people have a problem with is that he's a talent-less filmmaker with no ambition of ever putting out something good.....the sadest part is that he's trying to be a good filmmaker. on May 26 2008 07:42 PM Uwe Boll is awesome precisely because he tries to fight his critics. Don't discourage that behavior. Keep it up Boll! (Reply to this) |

on May 27 2008 12:56 AM I doubt that Uwe even has Kevin Costner's publicist's phone number. (Reply to this) |
on May 27 2008 08:44 AM It's a pretty ****ty situation when I'd rather watch a Michael Bay movie than anything by this godawful director. I just had to click on this and wonder why the hell Rotten Tomatoes would ever use the word "genius" to describe this horrible, horrible, waste of space that is Uwe Boll. He seems like a cool enough guy, but seriously. He should be arrested if he ever picks up a video camera again. If I were doing a list of the worst movies of the past 20 years. I think every single one of his movies would make that list. (Reply to this) |

on May 29 2008 09:16 AM Posting interviews like this on bigger name websites just continues to encourage Uwe Boll to make more films, and think people actually respect him a little (or worse, actually gain him some, as is apparent). I don't care how good a "businessman" he is, he doesn't deserve an ounce of respect just because he knows how to take a plate of manurer and pawn it off as food to imbeciles. His response to a "Vice City movie" alone makes it quite apparent that he's still an idiot and is still in his own little world. Thank you for taking the knife in my gut and twisting it around, rottentomatoes. (Reply to this) |

on May 29 2008 12:24 PM Maybe his next release will be a homemade porno he did with Vern Troyer. (Reply to this) |
on May 30 2008 08:59 AM If anyone would bother making a movie out of Postal (a video game that's forgettable only to the few that ever even heard of it), it would be Uwe Boll. Whoever compares this man to Ed Wood probably would also compare Postal to Grand Theft Auto. That's like comparing apples and week-old donkey fecal matter covered with proboscis monkey vomit and burning gorilla dingle berries. Ed Wood is the father of B movies. I love the hell out of B movies. There is a huge difference between Uwe Bowel movements and the likes of classic Peter Jackson. Even B movies have some underlying genius; and I'm not talking about business savvy. Ewe Boll's The Producers-like approach makes me respect him even less. Also, most of the recognizable actors in these films are washed-up and probably desperate for work. However, as far as signing an anti-Boll petition, I absolutely never would. Regardless of this man's unfathomably abysmal void where his talent should be, he might one day redeem himself. I am not above be proven wrong. As far as Michael Bay is concerned, he's worse than Uwe Boll. But that's a different rant for a different forum. (Reply to this) |
