A moving, if belated tribute to a host of visionary iconoclasts who were unappreciated if not outlawed or outright assassinated in their time.

Reviews for Profit Motive and the Whispering Wind
A potent reflection on progressive politics in America. A meditative chronicle of struggles against—for lack of a more comprehensive term—the powers that have been and continue to be.
On the strength of its critical reception at festivals, this lovely, rigorous piece (made by a Boston professor) has secured what few experimental works do, a one-week theatrical run. It deserves it.
The chronologically arranged tour ends with frenetic images of contemporary anti-war drumlines -- the struggle continues! -- which feels presumptuous; should we assume Elizabeth Cady Stanton's ideas on Afghanistan?
Beneath the meditative procession of sites, Gianvito layers an anxiety built into most viewers' gaps in 17th-to-20th-century U.S. history.
At once uplifting and thought-provoking, guaranteed to send viewers Googling figures and events, this poetic docu is inspired by, and a worthy accompaniment to, Howard Zinn's revolutionary A People's History of the United States.
Provocative and quietly mesmerizing... Gianvito's vital memorial of memorials could and should be dissected at length shot by shot...
