Trailer Bulletin: Prom Night
More terrifying than chaperones dancing to "Crank That"!
by Jeff Giles | January 04, 2008
Discuss Article
The trailer for Screen Gems' Prom Night remake is online, and UGO's got it!

The 21st-century update of the Jamie Lee Curtis-led original doesn't reach theaters until April 11th, but for an early look at stars Brittany Snow, Scott Porter, and Johnathon Schaech in fast-paced stabbin' screamin' action, just click on the link below. The official synopsis is as follows:

Donna's senior prom is supposed to be the best night of her life. After surviving a horrible tragedy, she has finally moved on and is enjoying her last year of high school. Surrounded by her best friends, she should be safe from the horrors of her past. But when the night turns deadly, there is only one person who could be responsible...a man she thought was gone forever. Now, Donna and her friends must find a way to escape the sadistic rampage of an obsessed killer, and survive a night "to die for."

So the plot has absolutely nothing to do with the original... just capitalizing on the name. Looks pretty bad.

Is it just me, or is the trailer (and probably the entire movie) just a series of this:

*silence*
*look around*
*whoops, there's something there!*
*SCREAM*

Looks utterly boring.

Ooops, there goes hollywood again! What a lame pile of vileness! No wonder people don't want to pay to go to movies anymore. Let's get some fresh new ideas out there and make some worth while films, or has everyone run out of ideas?

At least the poster reflects how most Prom Nights end.

On the upside, it can't possibly be worse than the original...can it?

rustdog...i think that looks like saliva hanging from her mouth...not some manjuice.(or maybe its hair, i can't tell) so its not EXACTLY how prom nights end...looks like it though

the first one sucked anyway. two things that wreak about this: the release date(right during prom season), and its pg13. hey, gee...i wonder if its going to be another sh3tty "horror" movie thats for teenage girls disguising itself as an ACTUAL horror(uhm...When Strangers Call). a pg13 "horror" about a psychotic killer...is like watching women's tennis while they're wearing baggy sweatpants...SOMETHIN'S MISSIN'!

There is no hope for this film. for the simple fact that the original was rated R and this is PG-13, it's not vile, it's not even entertaining, this is no good

AVOID!

Horror films have been reduced to lame, low budget teen flicks rated PG-13 that aren't nearly scary, but rather continue a few cliched "jump" scenes...
Or lame, low budget torture porn, marketed to sadistic freaks and the teenagers who go seen those PG-13 horror films, and then feel rebellious and very adult to see the more gory R rated films.

The only reason they keep getting made is because this ignorant group [who can't realize that all recent horror films are the same, despite a few diamonds in the rough...which I can't bring to mind right now. hmm] keeps paying to see them. And because of a low budget, they make money, and continue to be produced.
Ughh. WHEN WILL AMERICA LEARN?!!

Also:
1. Brittany Snow deserves to be looking for better projects than this and the other terrible teen movies she's been in. She could honestly do better [go back and look at her as the main character on the excellent late NBC show American Dreams]
2. For a legitimate horror film, go see The Orphanage, which has a limited release today. It is in Spanish [and Spain's Foreign Oscar submission], produced by del Torro, and is classic [a la Rosemary's Baby] psychological horror. The best horror film in years.
