Chris Tucker to do a Bollywood Remake?
by Scott Weinberg | June 01, 2006
Discuss Article
From the "Huh?" Files: Chris Tucker, the guy who's starred in literally nothing but "Rush Hour" movies over the past ten years, might be signing on to star in a remake of Bollywood film "Munnabhai MBBS," which is about a mafia guy who enrolls in medical school.

From Yahoo! News: ""Munnabhai MBBS" was a hit in India and among South Asians living abroad, and will be remade as "Gangster M.D.," the remake's director, Mira Nair, was quoted as telling the Mumbai Mirror newspaper.

"Chris Tucker will be playing the main character in the film," said Nair, adding that filming should begin after Tucker finishes making "Rush Hour 3."

Munnabhai MBBS tells the story of a mafia leader who pretends to be a doctor whenever his parents visit him from their village. But when his cover is blown, he decides to better himself by trying to become a doctor — which he hopes will also prove himself to the woman he loves and her father, a hospital superintendent."

NOT RUSH HOUR?
I didn't think that he could play anyone other than his character in Rush Hour. I am impressed. I don't think that I will be seeing this, but it is early to say that.

Scott "Wimpy" Weinberg
So what if he has done only the Rush Hour films in the past 10 years! That was his choice. He is a multi millionaire. He works when he wants to and not when the Hollywood machine wants him to. Weinberg you need to get a life with the stupid remarks. Have a bagel and coke, then chill dude.

Munnabhai was a great movie. Tucker doesn't fit the role. At all. At least hollywood is remaking a bollywood movie for a change (rather than the other way around).

So is the movie going to take place in India, or feature any Indians?
Or will they just replace "village" with "the ghetto?"

Hollywood remake of Bollywood movie? Oh the humanity! But I bet the Hollywood version will turn out pretty good with fast mouth Tucker in it. Hope they get a better script than the Bollywood one.
