That Appetizing "Saw IV" Poster...is Fake!
by Fred Topel | June 28, 2007
Discuss Article
Remember that "Saw IV" poster that came out last week with all the blood on the dinner plate? That's not the "Saw IV" poster. That was an invitation to a dinner party where the filmmakers gave their first Saw IV interviews.

At that event, producer Oren Koules clarified the poster confusion.

"It's funny because a couple of websites this morning said that we put out our first poster," Koules said on June 12. "We're like, 'We didn't put out a poster.' What it was was someone took the invitation for this and clipped it and said it was the first Saw poster, which it's not. It was an invitation to come to the mixer tonight."

Rest assured, the real "Saw IV" poster will not leak out so easily. "[Lionsgate marketing exec] Tim Palen keeps it pretty close to the vest. He'll usually sometime in the next couple weeks, start sending us four or five different ideas and we'll go for it."

"Saw II" was fingers, "Saw III" was teeth, so the roman numeral IV may actually end up being a medical IV. "I know IV is one of them that he's playing with."

"Saw IV" hits theaters October 27.

I thought it sucked, so I'm personally happy about it.

Does anyone even care about this film anymore?

no.
this film series started *ok*, just ok. Then it went downhill fast, being reduced to mere gore without any real purpose (that seems to be all horror movies nowadays, with the exception of 1408, the first horror movie that seems intelligent enough to warrant a visit to the theater)

i mean, wth, they killed Jigsaw off in the third, if they made him magically alive because he somehow anticipated his death, that would be too far out there. lame.
The puppet is cool though, love that puppet.

Right, and putting people in traps while evading capture and during all that time dying of cancer isn't out there.

I care. I am a HUGE Saw fan and welcome as many as they can come up with as long as the story is still interesting and I enjoyed Saw III, so I am very excited about Saw IV.

Don't judge just yet...
I wouldn't assume that Jigsaw is still alive just because there's a fourth film. Unlike other horror franchises (e.g. Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the Thirteenth, & Halloween) Saw doesn't need Jigsaw to be alive to continue the game. Jigsaw could have a thousand followers willing to take up his work that we don't know about. I'm refusing to rush to judgment on a film until I've seen it. A true cinema fan would do the same, especially if they're horror fans.

unless Saw IV was going to be about a dinner party, I knew there was no way that was real!

Normally, i'd be for a sequel, but look at two things. 1.) so many movies (especially sequels) have been crap this year. 2) some of the original writers left, not sure how i feel about it. As for his followers being alive to do his work, that could be pretty cool actually. Hope thats in the fourth, that might just make it really cool again (sorry but #2 i hated). Just hope they dont put in more gore and less of a story, thats what started to turn me off on the Saw franchise.

*cough* better have that puppet in it if they expect me to see it *cough*

jigsaw is still dead, this is revolving around another trap he set before he died
