Now that we have a great quality version of the new Avatar trailer I can officially say it: drool. :)

It was hard to notice all the great visuals in the avatar trailer because I was to busy counting all the cliches. Sorry Cameron, but you still didn't impress me.

I wasn't too impressed with the trailer, but I'm going to check out the movie regardless.

Well... I was impressed by the new Avatar trailer, despite the bumper crop of cliches all over the place. Dec. 18th can't come soon enough.

Let's hope Celine Dion doesn't sing over the closing credits, though. ;-)

Where's Weekly Ketchup? There was one a few weeks ago too. What's up with that?

The new avatar trailer dispelled any of my misgivings. Even if it seems like Dances With Wolves in space I'm sure it will be a landmark film. Keep making Canada look good James!

As of this moment, I haven't seen the new "Avatar" trailer. The first one made me pretty much decide "Skip it." So, now I shall watch it and decide...

Oh, and does anyone have any more specific information on Metropia (excluding IMDb)? I am now fascinated in an incredibly strange way, and want to see it, but...I don't live in Sweden, and I'd assume that it's not going to have a wide release....

???

Nope. It still looks lame. Better trailer than before, but it looks so...unoriginal. It looks like "FernGully" (anyone remember that? It sucked) mixed with "X-Men", and a little of "Starship Troopers". Protect the rainforest, find love in unattractive alien lady, have a R. Lee Ermey wanna be commander, a hero who has a disablity, blah, blah, blah. Sure, turning into other creaures to get into that culture is original. But not enough.

Avatar looks like it's gonna be awesome. Stunning visuals, sweeping and epic narrative (even if it's been told before).

For all of you haters - the movie is supposed to be revolutionary in the sense of its use of 3D and seamless blend of CGI and live action. No one said it would revolutionize storytelling. All stories are the same in one way or another, cliches or not. We know the general storyline of Avatar, sure, but we have no idea exactly how it's going to be told -and that's what sets movies apart. You think Titanic was original with its social class themes? No, but the story was told incredibly well, and that is what elevated it to Best Picture.

Stop whining, give the movie a chance, and check it out come mid December.

I don't think it has "haters". I'm a "Shrugger". Plus, visuals are hard to impress these days, so storytelling also has to pull it's weight. And no, "Titanic"'s corny script is NOT forgivable because the boat was big.

I was also immediately intrigued by Metropia. The official site is easy to find through Google, and here's a clip:

It looks awful and cheap, but the movie turns it into hypnotic style.

I much more encouraged by the new trailer than the previous one. I can actually begin to see what people were getting excited about in the first place.

Can someone please explain what makes this look so great?

A 3 hour environmental lecture where a technically superior race exploits natives for resources, and then an insider turns against them and the natives fight back. This is EXTREMELY CLOSE to the plot of battlefield earth. But at least in that film the humans were the good guys, and it had F16s and a nuke.

This has some stupid lizards that I'm supposed to be rooting for. Ah no.

The Avatar trailer is wonderful. It's a very old-fashioned tale of a people being exploited. Reminds me of the Aztecs. It looks stunning, too. James Cameron delivers all the time. Lol, I remember when I first read the premise of Titanic. Leonardo DiCaprio? Man, I was scared. ****, I'll watch that movie now, if I had the time.
