Carly Norris (Sharon Stone), a demure divorcée and book editor, moves in to New York City's tall, elegant Sliver building. Unbeknownst to Carly, though, fatal mysteries enshroud her new accommodations. Soon the center of attention, Carly is befriended by Gus Hale (Keene Curtis), left gifts by a secret admirer, and pursued by two handsome men--Zeke Hawkins (William Baldwin) and Jack Lansford (Tom Berenger). However, someone is using a very sophisticated surveillance system to watch the intimate lives of these tenants--including Carly. SLIVER is based on a novel by Ira Levin (ROSEMARY'S BABY), although the script shares striking similarities with writer Joe Eszterhas's earlier BASIC INSTINCT screenplay. Phillip Noyce directs efficiently, and Polly Walker is striking as a Londoner out of her element in the coke-addled world of upscale Manhattan. [More]

...stripped of its thriller elements, the movie is really just a subpar 9 1/2 Weeks clone...

Director Phillip Noyce's camera will leer at anything that clenches and unclenches with a steady rhythm.

A glossy, trashy psychological thriller that manages to entertain despite a reshot ending which is too abrupt.

'You like to watch don't you'... that may be true, but I would have liked watching even more if I were watching something better.
