With Star Trek entering popular culture not just as a franchise reboot but a cinematic moment in sci-fi history, talk has already turned to the sequel(s) and where the next movie will take the fresh new crew. Well, since I'll never be published, I might as well throw my idea on RT for everyone. My idea would be to have the new Trek crew and the new timeline set by the movie in place, going along as normal. Gradually, Spock continues to have dreams about his future, seeing his mother talking to him as if she's still alive. The dreams come more frequent, subsequently making Spock slowly start to think he's losing his mind. Being the Vulcan he is, he subdues these emotions and continues on. As the film develops a little further, Kirk and Spock start to explore what 'old' Spock told them both. Young Spock decides to mind-meld with Kirk, virtually linking their two brains together. Somehow, Spocks dreams of his mother transcend into Kirk, and Kirk admits that he's been having the same dreams about his father, who was killed in the reboot. As they explore this a bit further, they both realize that the new future is not the correct one, which has both of them setting their sites on reversing what has happened and going back in time (yet again), using the red matter device that 'old' Spock came up with. As they devise their plan to go back, they meet resistance from all sides and from another rogue villian that gets thrown into the mix. Somehow, through it all, they do finally accomplish what they set out to do. Vulcan is restored, even Romulous is there as well. As the timeline is set right again, we see a flashback sequence flood the minds of each of the main characters.. But just as the ephoria is subsiding, the blackhole created by the red matter sets off another chain of events that pulls the Borg through somehow into the original past, setting forth another adventure... Albeit a very rough draft, but meant to both appease old fans and new, along with the TNG trekkies that don't want to be left out this time. Plus this movie could be much more cerebral in context, focusing on that part of the Trek this time.

Now, go Trekkies, start telling me how stupid you think this is.

sort of a pointless article. Most of the stuff they said in this artilce was from when the first movie opened. I for one dont want to see khan as a major character in another movie. Its been done and there are alot more possibilities. Although i did laugh at the spocks brain part. Also im sick of the borg they need to stay in the next gen era. They really reached their saturation point anyways

Ugh, no more retreads of the original movies- so no Kahn or V'Ger! Star Trek V I MIGHT tolerate since that movie was complete a$$ anyway. However, I like the #6,7 and 8 scenarios the most, as long as there is a good combo of both character development and action. It IS possible but just needs to be executed well!

Slow down the pace? Easy on the lens flare? I disagree on both. The movie was fantastic (twice).

I'd suggest doing something original. It's fun to see the old made new, but I also like the idea that Abrams and company could be inventive and do something never seen before. How about aliens that aren't bipedal humanoid? That's really okay to do that.

On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed by Klingons in the next film. And...I challenge them to outdo Montelban's Khan. The bar is set very high on that.

I'm not quite sure if the loss of 7 or 8 ships would be that big of a deal to be honest. That might be the case if there were only 20 ships in the fleet but there are probably hundreds. Oh yeah, anyone out there actually saying that Khan in a new Star Trek 2...part..2(?) is a good idea, should just stop. It's such a terrible idea, I can barely even look at the computer screen without wanting to puke in my keyboard.

As long as McCoy is still, grumpy, sarcastic, flippant and down right cynical and kirk still has his "What does god want with a starship" and "Let them die" series of passions and in your face attitude coupled with his insatiable appitite for adventure and making a difference teasing spock occasionally and flirting with the ladies all the time. Also scottys great ability to bury himself in the part along with his fondness for a scotch or two R and R time.
So as long as the focus is still on the characters and getting them consistantly right will be the making of a potential franchise, just keep those funnies coming like Karl Urbans McCoy speach about the way space will make your eyes pop out of your head lol

The old TV series had a lot going for it. No one believed at the time that this show would fly (literally). It did. But it took fan clubs and phone calls and snail mails to wake anyone up to the fact that there %u201Cis%u201D an audience out there who wanted to see more. Someone listened (and made a lot of $$$$)!!!
I was very impressed by this latest Star Trek. The addition of %u2018ol Spock with the younger Spock was a good idea.

Although I really dislike the idea of seeing Khan again, how kickass would Javier Bardem be in that role? C'mon ya'll, Anton Chigurh was scary enough...could he create another memorable villain? Then again, Khan is already a memorable villain. I'm not sure you can improve upon Ricardo Montalban's performance by much.

All I ask of the next Trek is that we keep the throwback feeling to the original series--you know, the same interactions between characters, the social commentary, it can even be a little corny too. Just make it good.
