John Z. Delorean writes: on May 06 2008 01:59 PM ...and the award goes to whoever decides on showing up to these crap awards. They're just a chance for MTV to act cool and give people awards so they can agree to co-host TRL sometime. I'm sure Denzel won't be able to sleep at night when he loses to Michael Cera. ck100 writes: on May 06 2008 02:13 PM I used to like the awards shows on MTV, but each year it's gets more and more tedious. I can't remember the last time this program was memorable. You know some of the choices in some of these categories are "filler". Other choices are kind of baffling like Topher Grace for "Spider-Man 3" and (Reply to this) |

FullMelson writes: on May 06 2008 02:28 PM Wow I had honestly forgotten MTV even still had this show considering all the channel is now is an endless stream of horrible "reality" programs. It looks like they just took whatever films made over a 100 million and put the charaters into their categories (Reply to this) |

stevegilpin writes: on May 06 2008 02:42 PM I'm really surprised that Cloverfield wasn't nominated for anything. I mean, come on, that is such an awesome movie and definitely seems to fit into the whole MTV Movie Awards thing. Also, I'm Not There....it's a movie about Bob Dylan, one of the most influential musicians ever. MTV still stands for Music Television, right? I guess not. This is lame. I do, however, hope that the Bourne Ultimatum wins best fight. That scene rocked. (Reply to this) |

Pagliacci writes: on May 06 2008 02:42 PM "Best film so far. . ." COME ON MTV!!! Be more creative. (Reply to this) |

FullMelson writes: on May 06 2008 02:57 PM In reply to this comment (#1722714) Sadly Cloverfield didn't have the box office or MTV relevant stars enough to make the cut. (Reply to this) |

PlanBFromOuterSpace writes: on May 06 2008 06:21 PM Sooooooo, Sex and the City is nominated for "Best Summer Movie So Far" and will have been out for exactly 2 days when this "awards" show airs. What a bunch of *****. This is only a little less dumber than last year's "Best Movie You Haven't Seen Yet", a.k.a. "Best Movie Trailer", which was won by Transformers. I remember when the MTV Movie Awards was actually a clever and funny show, like something I would still make an effort to see, even years after MTV itself had become rather unwatchable. Even the VMAs were still OK for awhile (last year's show was actually pretty entertaining in an "Oh my God, this thing is such a trainwreck, I can't believe they haven't pulled the plug in mid-broadcast"/televised execution kind of way), but now it seems like they just wing it, which isn't a good thing when they parade out a bunch of non-actors and/or musicians with no personality or improvisational abilities on live TV. When someone that should know better botches something, it still might be entertaining, but when the cast of The Hills can't read the cue cards (or anything for that matter), it's sort of expected. You'll just be able to catch the highlights on The Soup or Best Week Ever anyway... (Reply to this) |

sam.chomnoky writes: on May 06 2008 06:34 PM Just about National Treasure, well i watched it in a hotel room with some buds. And i thought it was gonna be stupid, and it was. But in a good way. It was one of those stupid movies that don't really have any plot, they can get away with everything (one minute they're in downtown London shooting and running over people, next minute they're in Washington WTF?) has some very corny jokes (that can be funny if your in the right state of mind) and in conclusion, was probably written by a team of monkeys. But god damn it, it was so GOOD! i don't know why, i guess it was the mood i was in, but hey ignore the plot holes, the bad editing, the bad acting, the bad script and just sit down, let ur brain ooze out your ears and watch. It's much more better that way... (Reply to this) |

manofthemovie16 writes: on May 06 2008 07:49 PM I love this list! In my opinion, the front runners for this competition will include the movies Juno, Superbad, At World's End, Transformers, Enchanted, and one for I am Legend (I wonder for who?). It's good to give these movies some credit for actually existing as old-fashioned movie entertainment and not existing as education disguised as movie entertainment, nuff said. (Reply to this) |

Bloody Mathias writes: on May 06 2008 08:38 PM Does anybody actually watch these shows? if you did, you'd see that 90% of the audience is screeching teenie-boppers. That's al who show up, that's all who vote. Best summer film so far??? Here's an idea...WAIT UNTIL THE SUMMER'S OVER. I mean jesus, TDk won't even be out before these crappy awards. (Reply to this) |

JettaJameson writes: on May 06 2008 09:46 PM Will Smith will win. He always wins. And at least Amy Adams got nominated for something. Two somethings! I'm refusing to watch this year. MTV sucks now. If I flip past and find one more damn Americas Next Top Model marathon I'm gonna punch the president of MTV in the face. Message to MTV: Play some goddamned music videos BEFORE 4am!!!!!!! Morons. (Reply to this) |

Dane Cook is NOT Funny writes: on May 06 2008 09:54 PM MTV sucks but I do hope that Juno wins some awards. I know that MTV loves Adam sandler, but does anyone believe that he even thought Chuck and Larry was even watchable? (Reply to this) |

EmmG389 writes: on May 08 2008 09:20 PM They should really try to make this list a little bit more hipper, they are getting kind of stale. MTV movie awards aren't serious or anything they're supposed to be fun. Fine Best movie. But they should get comedians to come up with some of the topics. Best Bar Rambling. How about Best Movie That We Thought Was Good But Didn't Understand: No Country for Old Men, I'm Not There (Reply to this) |

I mean at least best fight or something considering the whole movie was practically one huge battles scene. Or maybe even best breakout performance for Ben Barnes or William Moseley or Skandar Keynes or something...But like...Superbad? Enchanted? Chuck & Larry? I'm sorry but this is a joke..
