Official Terminator Salvation Synopsis Released
Production underway on fourth installment.
Production on Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is underway in New Mexico, and to kick things off, Warner Bros. and Halcyon have released an official synopsis of the film.
The plot outline for the fourth Terminator, directed by McG and starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington, is as follows:
In the highly anticipated new installment of The Terminator film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
The film also stars Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Charlotte Gainsbourg as Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams, Common as Barnes, and Jadagrace as Star.

Gimy writes: on May 23 2008 09:12 AM honestly, from reading that...i'm waiting for Ashton Kutcher to come out and say "hahahaaaaa...we got you Christian, you're on Punk'D!". other than Bale...everybody else just sounds like garbage. i thought i heard Bale and Hugh Jackman were friends, maybe Bale can give him a call and work out a Wolverine appearance in this sh3tter. somethin, anything...h3ll i'd even go for a Van Helsing cameo for cryin' out loud. Young Turk writes: on May 23 2008 09:31 AM In reply to this comment (#1748101) Common, who really isn't a bad actor, is the least of this movie's problems. The one that really sticks out is the horribly talentless director, who for some ridiculous reason thinks he is a super villain mastermind by the name of McG...or maybe it's an acronym for his favorite drug cocktail. Elixor writes: on May 23 2008 10:03 AM This movie is outside anything that McG has done so far. I see people's concerns, but I'm remaining hopeful. I've been long looking forward to a post-apocalypse Terminator movie. My hopes were severely dented by the declaration of the PG-13, but not smashed yet. I don't give a damn if Ahrnold is in it or not (as far as I'm concerned he shouldn't be anyways), I'm more interested in the story, plot, and execution of the movie. If it does turn out bad. I'll join in on the McG bashing, but I'm giving him a chance to see if he can pull this off. (Reply to this) |

Matanuki writes: on May 23 2008 10:15 AM Yep. Moon's that ridiculously gorgeous girl from JourneyMan. Too bad that show didn't survive the strike. Too bad this did. lol. But who knows, maybe this new Terminator franchise will surprise us all. I sure it would like it to, man. Hate to see Bale in a stinker after he's made so many good choices over the years. eastern2western writes: on May 23 2008 10:29 AM my 2 cents 1) I do not care if arnold comes back or not because one man does not make or break a movie. Despite he making the role famouse, I think the terminator role can be handle by any stiff card board. However, I just hate the fact that cameron is not returning because he is the soul of the whole franchise. 2) Hiring McG is probably the worst looking idea on paper. The man's sole movie credits are the charlie's angels' movies, those movies are basically pop corn fluffs, lots of calories but bland. If he makes a mtv terminator (everything is colorful and bright), I would probably laugh my head off. (Reply to this) |

dahluzz writes: on May 23 2008 10:41 AM In reply to this comment (#1748320) his wife you idiot. she was played by claire danes in the third one. um is anyone seeing the rumor of josh brolin as the terminator on imdb? now THAT would be a big trio: bale, who rarely does a bad movie, brolin, the guy who can take any part he wants after 'no county''s success and sam worthington, who is gonna be an instant star when 'avatar' drops and who was suggested by james cameron himself. c'mon, mcg or not, the script's gotta be pretty decent. tomwaitsjr writes: on May 23 2008 11:31 AM Hmmm.... Moon Bloodgood is Dutch-Irish and Korean. She is very distinctive. Maybe they should make the terminators after her. . . turn it into Terminator/Victoria's Secret. 2 cents 1. This movie is going to suck. As far as Brolin's involvement, I doubt it. Filming already started May 5th in New Mexico. 2. Just because Christian Bale agreed to do it, doesn't make it a good movie. They probably threw an inordinate amount of cash at him, so he can make tons on a McG film, and then make scale on a good independent film. (Reply to this) |

Shatter24 writes: on May 23 2008 11:34 AM I hope Arnold does make a cameo, as the real basis for the Terminator model, or have him coming off the assembly line at the end (I wonder if they could CGI/cut him out from a prior film and put him in on an assembly line?). Whatever you want to say about the mythos, it'd be weird not to have Arnold in the picture, he deserves it and we deserve it. (Reply to this) |

TombstoneLawDog writes: on May 23 2008 11:40 AM In reply to this comment (#1748353) Actually, that's the point, 'east; Bale is the ONE MAN who can make or break this. Bale is the ONE thing we're all banking on (notwithstanding all other casting rumors) to make this whole project worthwhile. I don't know what McG will do with it. He could rock. I mean, for all the camp & crap, the 'Angels' movie had at least a consistent, energetic flow. Also, he wasn't *trying* to be serious with them and was completely self-aware. That does NOT make him worthy of this project, but if all you saw of Peter Jackson was 'The Freighteners' in '96, you'd probably be pretty leery of giving him LOTR. I will choose to remain cautiously optimistic about this, but GET JAMES CAMERON INVOLVED AS MUCH AS F#CKING POSSIBLE. This is his mythology. period. (Reply to this) |

Dunk writes: on May 23 2008 12:22 PM In reply to this comment (#1748445) I attended a panel discussion with the cast and producers of the T.V. show Chuck which included McG (he's an executive producer on the show). I was expecting him to be a relatively ignorant jerk like Bay or Rattner. I was surprised that he came off as a pretty intelligent and cool guy. While I didn't love the Charlie's Angels movies (particularly the second one--which was complete crap), I'm willing to give him a chance. (Reply to this) |
