Eva Mendes Has The Spirit
Macht, Jackson, and Johansson have company.
by Jeff Giles | August 22, 2007
Discuss Article
After playing it close to the vest for months, Frank Miller's camp has lately unleashed a flood of casting news about the director's adaptation of Will Eisner's The Spirit. First came word that Gabriel Macht would play the title role, and face off against Samuel L. Jackson, then we learned that Scarlett Johansson would play the femme fatale Silk N. Floss, and now Variety is reporting another addition to the talent pool.

According to the article, Eva Mendes has signed on, although a specific role isn't mentioned. (If you're just joining us now, The Spirit is based on Eisner's classic comics, in which a cop fakes his own death in order to fight crime as...well, The Spirit.)

At this point, The Spirit gives every indication of being much better than Mendes' most recent comic-derived project, Ghost Rider. Fans can see her this fall in the Joaquin Phoenix/Mark Wahlberg cop drama We Own the Night (covered in our Fall Movie Preview!).

This is terrible news. This woman cannot act. Her acting in Ghost Rider was atrocious. Cindy Crawford has more range. A very bad choice.

God, I hate Eva Mendes. Even if she managed to do some superb acting, it still would look like mediocre acting. She has this Cinemax-softcore-movie-reject look that just makes her seem like she was acting bad even when she's trying hard.

I saw the trailer for We Own the Night, and she was just there randomly. "Oh, and it also stars Eva Mendes."

ok she is not that bad. She was good in Stuck on You, Hitch, Out of Time, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and she is supposed to be great in Live. So what if Ghost Rider wasnt good, even Nicolas Cage couldnt pull that one off. Im pretty sure that if she was a Skinemax reject she wouldnt be offered a role by Frank Miller

mjolson20, would any infectious disease keep you, I, or any man, and women

too i bet, away from jessica alba in any way. she is an incredible sex symbol and we

all know she is irresistable and she will only get hotter and hopefully get a role that

cements her all time sex icon status. AND of course it would help if she could act but

hey never stop OH SO MANY actors and actresses from winning legimite recognition from

the public and critics. so please if she has herpes then you know what disese has

just a whole lot sexier;)

SO BACK TO THE EVA NEWS. well, there goes the bloom on the spirit's rose.

what happened to frank and his integrity or taste. at least a jessica alba is an all

time sex icon with little talent and eva even has less talent and her beauty does not

match hers. i mean it takes a lot to act worse when the bad nic cage shows up and she

did with enough to tell everyone beware putting on her in your film. i mean seriously

miller rarely shows such a lack of awareness and by doing this he has ruined the good

feelings about this beloved character. now, hey alba did a good job on sin city, so i

guess if eva gets a similar "type" of role maybe it can be salvaged. i can only hope and

please i love looking at her and fantasing about her but i just don't want to see

another beloved character, ghost rider, be destroyed by a beautiful, sexy but

untalented babe. folks, will eisner does not need to see frank ruined his icon by

hiring eva and i JUST HOPE EVA PROVES ME WRONG! still, gonna see though no matter what!

Eva mendes is one of those actresses who are not all that talented bu their beauty is taking them somewhere. But atleast the girl has some range, Jessica Alba is a sad, sad, sad ,sad case. She is such a bad actress I can't still believe she is getting more roles. All she does is look at the screen and flaunt her beauty. She should be a commercial model for covergirl( ANTM would have been a good place to start for her) and not an actress. Look at what she did in Fantastic Four, she destroyed the legacy of Susan storm by her lazy presence on screen. She doesn't even makes an effort to act, kinda reminds me of Jessica Simpson in The Dukes of Hazzard. Well what can I say, sex sells in Hollywood.

Just go to http://www.ebay.com/virginunite. All of the proceeds go to charity too. Check it out if you want to win cool stuff for some awesome prices.

EVEN Nicholas Cage, Nicholas Cage is the worst actor in all of Hollywood. he has single handed ruined nearly every movie he has been in. thanks god hollywood has realised this and slated him to B-grade movies that most people will have the good fortune to never see

sorry mate, gonna have to disagree with you. i dont think Jessica Alba is that bad an actress, its just the material that she is given. she showed us she can act in 'dark angel' (nominated for a Golden Globe) so i hope she eventually will start being offered decent movies and move out of the sex symbol realm that the media have put her in
