The summer's biggest oohs and ahhs (and guffaws) hit DVD this week, as Wall-E and Tropic Thunder hit shelves with tons of bonus content for fans. Cineastes will be rewarded by the latest from Harmony Korine (Mister Lonely) and David Lynch (the multi-film Lime Green set), while early gift hunters should check out a 300 Limited Collector's Edition and Columbia's massive Best Pictures set.

1. Tropic Thunder - 83%

Ah, what gifts Steven Spielberg hath given us. Twenty one years after filming a bit part in Spielberg's WWII drama Empire of the Sun, comedian-turned-filmmaker Ben Stiller cobbled together an idea for a comedy about a big-budget Hollywood war movie run amok on location, and Tropic Thunder was born; Empire's child star didn't do too bad for himself either. This week Tropic Thunder -- The Unrated Director's Cut hits arrives, which means the biggest laughs of the year are moments away from your DVD player.

The jungle antics of Hollywood shills Tugg Speedman (Stiller), Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black), and Method actor Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.) are on full tilt in the 2-disc Unrated edition, which comes packed with bonus features that capitalize on the movie's meta-leanings; like the fake trailers within the film (The Fatties: Fart 2, Scorcher IV: Global Meltdown, and the controversial Satan's Alley), the faux-documentary Rain of Madness captures the "actors" of Tropic Thunder during their hectic production. The release also includes tons of behind-the-scenes featurettes, filmmaker and cast commentaries, deleted and extended scenes, an alternate ending, and more.

Watch an exclusive clip from Tropic Thunder below!!

Tropic Thunder wil be my brother's Christmas gift (with Con Air).

I will probably get Wall-E.

All on DVD, unfortunately. As a university student who only recently left home, I don't have enough money to switch on Blu-Ray yet. (Not to mention that I would have to buy a Hd-Tv to go with it.)

Wall-E was probably the second best movie all year behind The Dark Knight. It was incredible. I'll definitely get it sooner or later. Tropic Thunder was great too, so I'll be getting that.

Doctor Who for christmas.......excellent.
Sad about Tennant. Probably became my favourite with Tom Baker right behind.Probably rent Tropic Thunder, mostly for Downeys performance, but I could end up liking it as whole.
So it'd be a neat surprise. Not a big fan of Stiller or Black.

Con Air for your brother? That's cruel. Just kidding. Pearl Harbor really does suck, and is worth a few good laughs. But I'm here to talk about this weeks movies.

"Tropic Thunder" is a film I've yet to see. My Mom is kinda squeamish on the hard R films like this, but I don't mind heavy language, violence, etc. I'd see this, when I'm old enough. (Damn you MPAA!) Why? Because I'm a huge Frat Pack fan (Zoolander/ Meet the Parents/ Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy/ etc.) and this is their highest rated film on the tomameter. So it should be good. I'm surprised the blackface didn't recieve more controversy, and glad for that matter. "What do you mean you people?" "What do YOU mean you people?" "Huh?" I'll see it, in a few years.

reavus is right, "WALL-E" is the second best film of year behind "The Dark Knight", and I'm glad I saw it in theaters. (I'll do my favorite films on January 1st.) I plan buying "WALL-E" eventually, and I can't help to notice how "The Incredibles" (overated, and I know I' gonna get critized for that) ishigher rated than "WALL-E". A true crime, agree.

I've got nothing to say about "Sisterhood 2" except that I'm not the targeted audience. So I won't see it, that's that.

Huh? "300" on DVD again? I haven't seen it, but I plan to. Even if it is "mindless".

Is WALL-E worth picking up, if I thought movies such as Shrek,Ice Age, Monsters, Inc., etc. were just okay?

Never heard of "Mister Lonely", sounds okay, and if I can play it on Netflix maybe, but otherwise not.

"Doctor Who" has been only running forever. Thanks Jen for the translation. I embarrisally admit I know about "Doctor Who" but have never seen a single episode. And I don't plan on starting, sorry.

Ah, Lynch, what a strange man. I've seen and loved "The Elpephant Man", and the rest of his films sound to bleak to me. Still, a good, and odd, film maker.

"Southland Tales"? Is it porn? It has Timberlake "singing" so it's torture porn. I'm skiping it.

I think everything about the movies in the Best Picture set has been said. I'll just say that "Gandhi" is my favorite, and worth a buy. Maybe not all of them though.

Definitely Picking up Tropic Thunder this week, but unfortunately i will have to wait for Wall-E, i promise though eventually i'll get it. Southland Tales on Blu-Ray would be awesome but unfortunately i don't have a player lol. I kind of want 300 but i never watch the 2-disc version i have so, i probably won't get it. Finally, Executive Koala looks amazing, i don't have a clue what it is but i kind of want to see it lol.

Lastly, "Executive Koala". What...the...hell? It sounds either absoultely eerie and bizarre, or hilarious. I'd see it, much to my own surprise.

Thanks Jen.

Southland Tales, is crazy Ledaw, it's by Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko) it's interesting but hard to follow i thought, the blu-ray would be worth it just to be able to read the graphic novels, because i'm thinking they will shed more light on everything. Don't knock the JT scene yet though, it's actually pretty awesome.
