Consensus: Though Two Weeks Notice has nothing new to add to the crowded genre, Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock make the movie a pleasant, if predictable, sit.

Runtime: 1 hr 42 mins

Genre: Comedies

US Box Office: $93,241,161

Synopsis: Millionaire George Wade (HUGH GRANT) doesn’t make a move without Lucy Kelson (SANDRA BULLOCK), his multi-tasking Chief Counsel at the Wade Corporation. A brilliant attorney with a strategic mind,... Millionaire George Wade (HUGH GRANT) doesn’t make a move without Lucy Kelson (SANDRA BULLOCK), his multi-tasking Chief Counsel at the Wade Corporation. A brilliant attorney with a strategic mind, she also has an ulcer and doesn’t get much sleep. It’s not the job that’s getting to her. It’s George. Smart, charming and undeniably self-absorbed, he treats her more like a nanny than a Harvard-trained lawyer – and can barely choose a tie without her help. Now, after five years of calling the shots, on everything from his clothes to his divorce settlements, Lucy Kelson is giving her two weeks notice. Although George makes it difficult for Lucy to leave the Wade Corporation, he finally agrees to let her go – but only if she finds her own replacement. After a challenging search, she hires an ambitious young lawyer (ALICIA WITT) with an obvious eye on her wealthy new boss. Finally free of George and his 24-hour requests, Lucy is ready to change course and join her devoted boyfriend (MARK FEUERSTEIN) on an adventure at sea. Or is she? Confronted with the fact that Lucy is literally sailing out of his life, George faces a decision of his own: is it ever too late to say “I love you”? -- © 2002 Warner Bros. [More]

They may not be history's most predictable pairing but Bullock and Grant turn out to be a natural fit, in an Odd Couple kind of way.

It’s a treat – a delightful, witty, improbable romantic comedy with a zippy jazzy score… Grant and Bullock make it look as though they are having so much fun.

A tepid romantic comedy that strains not only credulity but patience.

The audience at the theater could be heard in a collective yawn.

Hugh Grant just grins and grins as if to explain that he knows the material isn't up to par and he's just along for the ride.

A formulaic romantic comedy that never quite makes up for in charm what it lacks in originality.

Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant make a great team, but this predictable romantic comedy should get a pink slip.

Basically 'The Sandra and Hugh Show,' with the two increasingly forgettable actors coasting on what remains of both their respective personas for a full 90 minutes of dreadful comedy. Even Jackass had better conceived characters than this film.

Bad news: Donald Trump is in Two Weeks Notice, and he's not even the most annoying thing in the movie.

Not even Grant's shoulders are broad enough to lift a scattershot script that defies explanation in any sort of linear way.

Writer and director Marc Lawrence keeps the film whistling along at such a giddy and relentless sitcom pace that you tend to overlook the fact that the leads have all the chemistry of a blind date.

Instead of focusing mostly on the budding relationship between the two leads, the movie throws in useless subplots and needless distractions when all we really want is to see Grant and Bullock fall in love.

An affable but undernourished romantic comedy that fails to match the freshness of the actress-producer and writer's previous collaboration, Miss Congeniality.

So routine, familiar and predictable, it raises the possibility that it wrote itself as a newly automated Final Draft computer program.

Bullock is as adorable as she always is and acts well off of Grant; they have great chemistry together and make this an entertaining tale to watch.

Like a medium-grade network sitcom--mostly inoffensive, fitfully amusing, but ultimately so weightless that a decent draft in the auditorium might blow it off the screen.
