In Other News...Tom Cruise, Brangelina, and Russell Crowe

Tom Cruise's War of the Words has pit him against many foes in recent months -- Brooke Shields, those water-squirting pranksters, and the "Today" show's Matt Lauer -- but now, he's pissed off a nation of shrinks. In a statement released Monday, the American Psychiatric Association, representing over 35,000 mental health professionals in the United States, called Cruise's televised denouncement of psychiatry last Friday "irresponsible" and maintained that the "War of the Worlds" actor is among a minority who challenge the scientific validity of the practice. Cruise, who started the beef when he blasted Shields for using Paxil to cope with post-partum depression, was appearing on the "Today" show to promote his upcoming movie when he called psychiatry a "pseudo science," insisting to interviewer Lauer, "You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do." Earlier this month, Cruise matter-of-factly told Entertainment Weekly that, as per his research, Carl Jung was a former Nazi-newspaper editor and methadone was originally known as "adolophine."

Mysterious are-they-or-aren't-they duo Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may have a new earth-shattering secret to hide from the wondering public, as rumors have surfaced that the pair have a baby on the way. According to the NY Post, Jolie is "in her first trimester" with her "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" co-star, who has been spotted playing Daddy to Jolie's 3-year old adopted son, Maddox.

And finally, an official suit to be filed this week against Russell Crowe following his phone-throwing incident has brought to light further details of the temper tantrum the "Cinderella Man" actor threw earlier this month. Nestor Estrada, the concierge who was on the receiving end of Crowe's rage, alleges in his lawsuit that the telephone was not the only object thrown; Crowe also hurled a ceramic bowl at his target, which was caught on a hotel security camera and witnessed by two bystanders. Also captured on film was a victorious Crowe, taking a post-chucking bow and assuming a karate stance.

so he has got that right. As for Cruise's tone I thought it was rude and not a smart marketing move.

Tom Cruise is a morron...
Its really too bad, I've always liked his movies. Now? Everytime I see them I now see a brainwashed ego maniac that has finally snapped for being in the closet for all his life. Tom... do yourself a favor... Shut up!

Man Russel Crowe is crazy... but at least he's real... I would have loved to see what would have happened if those guys squirted Russel in the face with water instead of closet boy...

"you're a jerk!" "Waa!"

I'd pay to see that video tape of Russell - maybe they could play it along with screenings of Cinderella Man to get attendances up.

Tom Cruise akin to Michael Jackson?
Me thinks when celebrity goes onto the top of their game, they become weirdos and eccentric and their lives and egos become insulated. When thinking of Tom I think of patheticity of Michael Jackson- and instead of seducing little children, poor Katie Holmes is getting brainwashed.
Tom and MJ are weirdos.
That is my nonprofessional nonscientological yabba babble opinion.
ps don't you think katie is not only emaciated looking, she got flat chest like Nicole Kidman. Could this be Tom's underlying affinity fokr homosecuality? And why hes never has been able to have kids of his own? IMHO

Do movie patrons realize that apart of their ticket money will go to support Scientology ?? As for that Bimbo he is in love with, bimbo because she is converting to that cult what can i say except duuhh.cruise is a outta control JERK. Wake up you movie patrons don't support Scientology.

CRUSIE CRAZY, SCIENTOLOGY :MEH
Ok Tom Cruise has become a nut job, i dont agree with mind altering medication but maybe he needs some. As far as scientology, it aint that bad, aint a cult and sure isnt violent so leave it be.

PS Who thinks Crowe as a grand master would make a great film.

The Day After
Did you see the interview with the 2 psychiatrists the day after the Lauer incident? One of the psychiatrist actually said that most of what Cruise said was accurate. He said there are no proven cases of "chemical imbalances", there is no testing to date that has ever shown a "chemical imbalance", and that pharmaceutical companies are being less than ethical in saying that there are "chemical imbalances". He also backed up Cruise saying that in mild and moderate depression research supports exercise over medication. Unfortunately, Cruise makes good points, but his religous bent is to follow the teachings of a really bad science fiction writer who was nuttier than a fruitcake.

We need to get journalists with the balls to call him out on some of this crap. The day I hear a journalist ask him about 'Xenu' and his escape from galactic prison will be one to remember. And by nearly any definition scientology is very much a cult...kinda pathetic that it was started by an out of work comic book writer a few decades ago. (hence the Xenu reference...if you don't know the story behind it look up some information about how scientology thingks the world started....pretty funny stuff)

Oh really? Check out the following links:

I used to think Scientology was an amusing little cult for me to mock; a harmless humorous diversion. With as much as it's been in the media spotlight recently, I decided to do some research on both sides of the fence. Let me tell you, friends, the more I read, the more disturbed I am that any sane person would give this whacked-out cult's beliefs any credibility at all.
