Bob S. writes: on Jun 25 2009 11:04 AM From what I heard, it's playing for 3 days in 4 cities. Won't be seeing the theatrical version, I guess. I wish they'd just spit out the final thing - rumor has it that this 3 hour cut isn't the same as the ultimate cut that they have sitting around somewhere, and which incorporates the "Tales of the Black Freighter" shorts. M.C.P. writes: on Jun 25 2009 11:28 AM Sorry, but there are far better movies to watch in July then this again.. Public Enemies, Moon, Harry Potter, Funny People... I agree w/ ya mightysourdough, less gigantic blue penis is a good thing (Reply to this) |

Zed'sDead writes: on Jun 25 2009 12:11 PM So if you liked the graphic novel, then obviously the blue penis wasn't an issue for you then, so why is it now? Dr. Manhatten is naked in the comic, hence he's naked in the movie. Shut the ***** up about it already and grow up... (Reply to this) |

tabascoman77 writes: on Jun 25 2009 12:17 PM It was unintentionally funny is all. At first, it didn't bother me but then, some dude walkin' around, swinging it this way and that...just is a bit much. (Reply to this) |

tabascoman77 writes: on Jun 25 2009 12:32 PM Oh, and for the record, the graphic novel is overrated. Just because it's important to Time Magazine doesn't mean it's the greatest comic book ever. Moore's V for Vendetta was better as was From Hell. In fact, I can think of a few more comics OTHER than stuff by Moore that were better than Watchmen. (Reply to this) |

Zed'sDead writes: on Jun 25 2009 01:00 PM In reply to this comment (#2517168) I see your point, but my only question is if you found the comic to be "overrated" and less works than V for Vendetta and From Hell, then why did you even go see it? That's like me saying that I was never a fan of Spider-Man, and that X-Men and Fantastic Four were much better comics, then coming on here and blasting the movie. If I wasn't fond of a work that a film is adapted from, then when the movie comes out, I'll just keep my *** at home. (Reply to this) |

SuperJerkmo writes: on Jun 25 2009 01:00 PM You say it with such gusto that it MUST be true. I liked the movie a lot but after reading your words I have learned that I am wrong and I have changed my mind. Please tell me more, have you started a blog yet, because I would like to become a frequent commenter on your posts. (Reply to this) |

Zed'sDead writes: on Jun 25 2009 01:04 PM In reply to this comment (#2517163) He was not "swinging" anywhere in Watchmen, you are completely making that up to defend the fact that you cannot handle male frontal nudity in a film. (Reply to this) |

Joben writes: on Jun 25 2009 01:36 PM I think the blue penis argument is completely ridiculous. The movie does have its faults, but complaining about the "blue penis" is very immature. If they would have taken it out of the movie, people would still complain. i think its in the movie around 4-5 times, but yet people still complain and act like it ruins the movie for them. Geez, you would think that nudity wouldn't be as big of a deal. All other countries besides U.S. seem to think its not. Well, im defiantly not going to be able to see the directors cut in theatres, but im very anxious for the blu-ray to come out. I loved the film, and its ridiculous to say that the novel is overrated, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I am sure excited for July, 21 though. (Reply to this) |

buddablz writes: on Jun 25 2009 01:50 PM In reply to this comment (#2517193) I can't recall how many times it was on screen but I know there was frontal nudity and *** shown for a few scenes. It was unintentionally funny walking out of the theatre. I saw it in IMAX. I rather wait for DVD than see a 6 foot tall blue penis onscreen again. I'll buy the DVD, but really, why they couldn't they just have released the Ultimate edition with the black freighter now? Oh yeah... to make more money. (Reply to this) |

De4ective Detectiv3 writes: on Jun 25 2009 01:57 PM I consider myself a Watchmen fan, but I hated the way they tried to cram everything into one movie. I think they should have made at least 2 movies out of this material. I also didn't like the way Snyder tried to completely re-enact the book, word for word. I would have rather seen some of his own interpretation, rather than a complete literal translation to the screen. It lacks the anticipation when you know everything that going to happnen and exactly how it going to happen. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Jun 25 2009 02:20 PM Yeah a lot of people laughed in my theater at Manhattan's penis, its called immaturity people. I thought Watchmen was really good and over looked. Obviously some hate on it, not all of you but I have a few in mind, because it didn't deliver on the action and they didn't want to see all the character stuff. It was an ambitious movie- a 3 hour hard R super hero movie with them doing bad things. What happened to the days where one could just respect ambition? I cant wait to see this because I think it will probably fix some of the narrative problems (a little sloppy)- Hollis Mason. (Reply to this) |
