When Duke is accused of killing a man in the small western town of Wagon Gap, he is required to take care of the dead man's wife. Stepping up to the task, Duke takes on Widow Hawkins (Marjorie Main), and her seven children. Main is both tough and endearing as the grievous widow and convincingly inspires Duke to become sheriff, which he does because he is convinced that no one will dare kill him. Director Charles Barton keeps timing tight and the gags coming, the script is based on a story by D.D. Beauchamp and William Bowers. The end result is a delightful Western comedy. [More]
