Zombie is awesome! An underwater zombie fights a shark; 3 hundred year old Zombies are burned to cinders by Molotov cocktails; a lady%u2019s eyeball is spiked; another lady%u2019s throat is torn-out by a zombie with worms pouring out of its eyes; Zombies cross the Brooklyn Bridge while the radio announcer is eaten by zombies. Zombie has excellent cinematographically ingenious dolly shots (my favorite dolly-shot where the camera is mounted on a ceiling to capture the action occurring in one hallway and the next hallway in once scene!) editing; and plodding ominous music. Also interesting is that Zombie takes place on islands: Manhattan and Matul; if expanded more%u2014Old World magic and mysticism inevitability collides with New World scruples and sensibilities. Zombie is excellent if a guy doesn%u2019t see it 20 or so times. But the reviewer%u2019s biographical data will determine the reviewer%u2019s ability to appreciate and Zombie. For instance a kid who is 12 in 2009 will think Zombie is slow and a guy who was 12 years old 30 years ago will always love Zombie. The kids of today love my Zombie movie poster though. Maybe if Zombie were set to country music (The Devil Went Down to Georgia, maybe) it would be exciting.
