Walt Disney Pictures has hired a pair of screenwriters to put together a remake of the 1987 family comedy "Adventures in Babysitting," says Variety. Hilary Galanoy and Elizabeth Hackett, both former studio execs, have earned the screenwriting assignment. No word yet on who'll be directing the remake, although the original "Adventures" did a lot to help further the careers of leading lady Elisabeth Shue and director Chris Columbus.

I loved the original... I can even remember the opening credits with Shue dancing on top of her bed to "be my baby", haha ! (So long ago...). I'm sckeptical of this one as I am of all remakes, though.

I have recnetly watched it again that is and laughed my butt off. Especially the part right before they get in the car accident and she's telling them the ghost story about the guy with the hook: "But instead of a face, it was just a pile of mushy goo". That scene is soooo funny! It's crazy to think that they're remaking it allready. It is hard to imagine the film capturing the majic of the original but who knows?

As much as I doubt that it will amount to anything, curiousity once again becomes me....doesn't it to all? But yes, the first was pretty cheesy, as memorable as it was. I can't say I'm looking forward to it.

Sorry ! The song Shue dances to in the opening credits is NOT "be my baby" (that's from Dirty Dancing soundtrack !!) but "and then he kissed me" !! Yeah, I knew it was important to point that out... ^_^

I absolutely love the original, and can appreciate the comedic situations even now. I pray that they don't offer the role to Hilary Duff. The only person I can see pulling off the main role would be Amber Tamblyn. I can see Elisabeth Shue laughing hysterically at the notion that not even 20 years after she starred in the film there's the potential for her to now play the role of the parent in this version. Either that or she's crying at the stupidity of Disney attempting to remake this film already. Why don't they try to remake a classic that could benefit from today's technology and special effects, like "Escape From Witch Mountain"?

with most of the other posters here. What the original lacked in quality, it more then makes up for in charisma, but I don't see that charisma shining through to the remake. Disney must really be desperate for a new hit, because this is a horrific idea, what remake has Hollywood been sucessful on? Don't answer that, I know there are a few, but I doubt this is going to be one of those selected few. They probaly will offer to the role to Hillary Duff or Lindsey Lohan, although I think Scarlett Johansen would be better and could actually maybe fill the role, but not the seats at the threatre. Elizabeth Shue will almost certainly make a cameo apperance haha. How long until you think they do a remake off "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitters Dead"?
