Bowman Spitballs "Elektra 2" Concepts
by Scott Weinberg | October 19, 2005
Discuss Article
IGN Filmforce had a chat with "Elektra" director Rob Bowman in preparation for the Director's Cut DVD release, and the guy had a whole lot of ideas on where he'd go with an "Elektra" sequel ... provided he was given approval for a full-on R-rating.

""Because, really, she's an R-rated character. I mean, it's even worse in some of the comic books. The shelves are stacked with very, very aggressive, very sexy Elektra comic books. It is what it is. It's like, sex and murder, that's her thing."

"I would say, give me the full spectrum of it. The first one is a reconstruction. But the second one? No, no, no! Go back and say, this is one of the darkest, most capable assassins in the world, or in the comic book world."

The sequel would pick up at the very end of Elektra, where she exits the house. She's changed a girl's life for the better, and has learned to be more compassionate. However, "That's no different than actually just stepping out of rehab. It's no different than coming out of the hospital with a cast on your arm.""

For a lot more wishful thinking from a director who should probably just buck up and move on to an entirely new project, head on over to Filmforce and read the Elektra-fying possibilities.

Elektra was probably the worst movie Ihave ever seen, so I guess a sequel is warranted....

Get rid of Rob Bowman!
If a sequel is to happen, mercy please. Marvel Ent. hired that hack Bowman the first time; get us a real filmmaker to do the character justice!

The first one was crap and I really don't want another one, but if there ever is, an R rated sex and murder filled one would be a step up.

i agree with spike1967, it could have been alot worse. From the tons of negative reviews i got completly trashing the film, when i rented it, i was actually surprised that i was having kind of a good time, upto the point where they enter the forest and everyone she kills turns into yellow powder. what was up with that? but i beleive in bowman, i think if he is given no constraints what so ever, maybe he can make a very good elektra film. There are some very well directed sequences and i'm a long time x-files fan and i'm hoping he does something good in hollywood.

only if Jennifer Garner is in it, and is rated R and given better dialogue.

The big problem with the Elektra was the script. Any serious dialogue that makes me laugh is bound to be bad. The budget was also a let down on the CGI capacity. The flying sheets ruined that 30 second final (part 1) fight.

Also Fox made Bowman release a PG-13 cut, so Fox have killed 2 franchises because of that. the R-rated cut i think is 10mins longer.

If Fox learned from Sony (ie Resident Evil and Underworld) it could of made double its money if it was R.

Can't sequal CRAP
The first one not only was poorly written, poorly acted with elementary school level graphics, THEY BASTARDIZED THE COMIC BOOK STORY. Electra WAS A BAD ASS. She didn't run, she didn't back down, she DIDN'T HESITATE, SHE KILLED! They tried to make a cold blooded bad ass assassin mother of the month!?! The story sucked, it was NOT the Electra character in the comics, it was CRAP.

I'm sorry, they screwed DareDevil, then spun that off and ROYALY screwed Electra. Please don't rehash and offend an awesome character again. I had hope that maybe they'd do the REAL electra, but then the moron says the story would start where the first one ended?!!? NOOOOO. They should proceed as if the first mistake NEVER HAPPENED. Forget the movie was ever made! She would NOT SAVE A LITTLE GIRL, she would not care about her dad, she'd kill the dad in front of the girl and then tell here to get used to the cruel world! ARGGHHHH I could go on and on. I am an old fan of Electra, and was floored to see how Marvel whored themselves to get a PG-13 (like McFarlane and Spawn) !!

If they insist on whoring themselves again, get FRANK MILLER to write the screenplay!!
