Dane Cook Comedy Hires a Few New Employees
by Scott Weinberg | February 10, 2006
Discuss Article
Coming soon is the Dane Cook / Jessica Simpson comedy "Employee of the Month," and it seems that three new applicants have joined the mix: Dax Shepard ("Without a Paddle"), Efren Ramirez ("Napoleon Dynamite"), and Harland Williams ("There's Something About Mary") will soon be filling out their time cards on the high-concept comedy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Dax Shepard, Efren Ramirez and Harland Williams have joined the cast of the Dane Cook-Jessica Simpson starrer "Employee of the Month" for Lionsgate Films. Greg Coolidge will make his feature directorial debut on the film, which centers on best friends (Cook and Shepard) who work in a Costco-like store and meet a hot new cashier (Simpson) who prefers ambitious men. The men begin an all-out war to become the store's next employee of the month in order to impress her.

Ramirez and Williams will play store employees. Chris Conroy and Don Calame wrote the screenplay, while Coolidge penned a rewrite."

(Not to be confused with the Matt Dillon / Steve Zahn / Christina Applegate comedy that went direct-to-video last year. That one was also called "Employee of the Month.")

Sounds ok, plus Cook, Williams, and Shepard can all be funny at times.
