"V For Vendetta" Tomatometer Update: 78%
Last week we tracked the first Tomatometer calculation for "V For Vendetta" -- and as more reviews trickle in, it's only getting better.
With only a week to go before the Natalie Portman-Hugo Weaving anarchic comic adaptation hits theaters, the web is abuzz with speculation about just how good the pic will be. Since our last update, when "Vendetta"'s Tomatometer was at a marginal 60%, more critics have chimed in and upped the rating to a decisive (as of yet) 78%, with 9 reviews in.
Sure, 9 reviews ain't a lot, but consider the sources and judge for yourself; do you trust the opinions of these scribes?
"It's an amazing movie. Not in exactly the way The Matrix was (how tired would that be?), but in a new way. It's a fascinating picture, dark and exciting, and it will almost certainly be an enormous hit."
- Kurt Loder, MTV
"The most faithful and literal adaptation of an Alan Moore graphic novel...a potent combination of action, emotion and wry political commentary."
- Edward Douglas, Comingsoon.net
"Although often visually striking and undercoated by a compelling sci-fi concept, graphic-novel adaptation V for Vendetta feels flat as a storyboard."
- Leslie Felperin, VARIETY

I Am Remote writes: on Mar 09 2006 01:36 PM Optimistic I think it will. Just on visuals and action alone it's at least worth a viewing, and with some considerable acting talent and concepts behind it, I think it will be pretty good. (Reply to this) |

Variety gives alot of shit reviews in my opinion so i'd take their review for granted i'm glad rolling stone thought it was good though but i laughed when i say insaneman's comment... the editor does kind of seem excited about this movie (Reply to this) |

metalgear21 writes: on Mar 09 2006 06:15 PM Cannot Wait I didn't even know about V for Vendetta until I read the graphic novel last July. I was blown away, not just by the writing, but also with the subject matter. It is amazing how the story is just as relevent today as it was about 20 years ago. Summer movies may not start until May, but for me "Christmas" comes March 17th. (Reply to this) |

TheIceGhost writes: on Mar 10 2006 11:19 PM In reply to this comment (#831995) Mind terrorism I don't know the story so I can't really say what it's about, and I too don't like when people force things on me but there is a thing called "seeing both sides of the situation". Too many of us just make an opinion about something without any validity to it, just to make some noise. People can be so ignorant and that is ashame. Didn't mean to bash, just hate when someone instantly makes an opinion about something without any rational reasoning to back it up, other than of course the over-used "i don't have to accept it because it's 'stupid' " (Reply to this) |
