Bird Will Helm Pixar's "Ratatouille"
by RT Staff | March 15, 2006
Discuss Article
Pixar Animation's next film, "Ratatouille," has been officially taken over by "The Incredibles" director Brad Bird; pic will tell the story of a Parisian rat with a taste for gourmet food.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the computer-animated rodent tale was originally set to be helmed by Jan Pinkava, who developed the story for Pixar and was attached to direct the 2007 release. Pixar chief John Lasseter confirmed the switch last Friday to Disney shareholders, where he also screened the first teaser trailer (which was also shown at the "Cars" screening at ShoWest).

This latest change in line-up hasn't yet altered the scheduled release date for "Ratatouille," which is slated for June 29, 2007. There's also no word yet on how the new project will affect Bird's other directing gig, creating a sequel to the hugely popular "The Incredibles."

Whoa, whoa, whoa.
When did Brad Bird confirm a sequel to The Incredibles? And why was I not told? This is the best news ever right here.

I don't think it was confirmed...I think it's just that a sequel is only natural after the huge success of the first one.

What they need to do is make a sequel to The Iron Giant.
