A Sequel to the Original "Dracula"?
by Scott Weinberg | May 03, 2006
Discuss Article
Filmmaker Jan de Bont plans to produce the first "officially sanctioned" sequel to Bram Stoker's original "Dracula" story, one that will catch up with all of the first tale's surviving characters -- two and a half decades down the road.

According to Fangoria (and Variety), "Jan De Bont’s Blue Tulip Productions has teamed with Atchity Entertainment on a new feature which represents the first officially sanctioned sequel to Bram Stoker’s 'Dracula'. Tentatively titled 'The Un-Dead', after the subtitle of Stoker’s original novel, the script was written by Ian Holt and is set 25 years after the book’s events. All the surviving protagonists—including Jonathan and Mina Harker and Professor Van Helsing—appear, along with Inspector Cotford, a character cut from the original manuscript, facing the bloodsucking Count once again. The Stoker family has officially recognized Holt’s screenplay—the first adaptation to receive such approval since the original 1931 Bela Lugosi-starring film."

de Bont is expected to hire a director instead of helming the project himself. Plus, he'll soon be extra-busy working on "MEG."

Hopefully Stoker will rise from his coffin and bite them all on the ass before they plagiarize his classic. May the diarrhea of a thousand bats fill their beds for robbing from his grave!

Are we talking the original Legosi Dracula or the one with Keana Reaves?

Lugosi died 50 years ago this August but I'm sure that if the producers really needed him to make this movie work, they would find a way to bring him back to life the way Ed Wood did for Plan 9 From Outer Space LOL

Wouldn't be too hard. Just get the actor to hold up his cape in front of his face.
