Brad Pitt A No-Show for "Ocean's Thirteen?"
by Jen Yamato | May 11, 2006

With production slated to begin in two months, "Ocean's Thirteen" filmmakers are worried that the third installment of the uber-cool heist franchise will be sorely missing key player Brad Pitt.

According to the report, Pitt -- whom you'll recall plays Danny Ocean's (George Clooney) super smooth, card-hustling BFF Rusty Ryan -- has not yet signed his contract to appear in the flick, contrary to earlier assumptions that the original main characters were definitely returning.

Pitt has been bunkering down in Namibia recently with expectant baby's momma Angelina Jolie, who the tabs speculate will give birth any week now. Producers are said to be worried that Pitt, once a father, will neglect his professional duties and -- gasp! -- opt instead to spend time with his family.

Digital Spy brings us the news from The Sun, who squeezed the scoop from an unidentified "source," if that gives you any indication of its reliability:

"Best friend George Clooney, who plays Danny Ocean and is one of the producers on the new film, is said to be very worried about the situation.

A source told The Sun: 'Brad has not been able to confirm 100 per cent that he will be available - and that's making George very anxious.'"

"Ocean's Thirteen" has a release date of June 8, 2007. The rest of the original cast is set to return (minus Julia Roberts), and will include new additions Ellen Barkin and Al Pacino; helmer Steven Soderbergh will reprise his role behind the camera.

Ocean's Ten?
It sounds like they should of stopped at 12.

I think these movies have really fun plots. I would love to see another one, but if some of the good actors aren't coming back, then I say quite while you're ahead.

Brad Pitt's character was everyone's favorite, and I hope he comes back for this movie.

I wonder if he and George Clooney had a falling out. It was reported earlier this year that George and Brad were going to open a hotel in Vegas (or near Vegas), and Brad Pitt pulled out of the deal, forcing George Clooney to quickly find another partner.

I think they should delay the movie one year and see if they can't get both Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to be in it.

The source is "The Sun" - that should be everything that needs to be said about it.

They really shouldn't have made Ocean's 12 and they really really shouldn't make Ocean's 13. Of course, I still liked Ocean's 12 for what it was, and I'm sure I'll see Ocean's 13 too. Still, they ought to know better and not bother if Pitt doesn't sign.

Ocean's Twelve was a decent film, although I agree that they probably would have been better to leave the ending w/ Ocean getting out of prison. And on that note, Pitt's character is essential to the slick and swave feel of the movie. He is also the funniest character, perhaps with the exception of Ruben or Saul. Pitt needs to be in Thirteen or it'll be a flop or a shadow of Eleven and Twelve's greatness. And does anyone know if Soderberg is still directing? If he's not, this franchise is dead or worse.
