Rob Zombie's "Halloween" -- Half Remake, Half Prequel?
You can't just tell a planet full of horror fans that "Rob Zombie is directing the new Halloween flick" and not expect them to beat the door down for more details. The rocker/filmmaker seems to have just realized this, so he answered a few questions on what we can expect from a movie called "Rob Zombie's Halloween."
The interview questions came from fans at HalloweenMovies.com...
QUESTION: Can you please clarify what you mean when you say you are "not making a sequel" and that your Halloween will be a "re-imagining" of the series? Isn't that just another word for "remake"?
RZ: Well, sort of. I am basically making a prequel and a semi-remake of the first film all in one. So really in theory there will be more original content than remake content. That's why I don't like the word "remake."
QUESTION: For the next film, are you planning to maybe go into what Michael's childhood was like and how and why he became the serial killer he is? Is it at least going to take place in 1978?
RZ: Yes, I think this aspect of the story is very important in order to bring new life to the character of Michael Myers. The film begins in 1978.

Mr.Rosco writes: on Jun 21 2006 07:55 AM NOOOOOOOO! HOW DARE YOU! He can not do this. Rob Zombie is a terrible god awful director and he's going to kill this series with this stupid idea for a movie. Someone has to stop him. (Reply to this) |

That's one of the reason's why "The Godfather Part II was so interesting & well made. It showed how Vito got to where he was. I loved it & i can see it happening with halloween. (Reply to this) |

FILMCZY writes: on Jun 21 2006 08:25 AM From the HalloweenMovies.com website: QUESTION: Your films are known for their gore, but the Halloween films haven't been very gory, they have been more suspensful. Do you plan to focus on gore or suspense in your version of Halloween? (from Paula) RZ: I plan to focus on character, mood and terror. If he holds true to this answer, I'm in. (Reply to this) |

aconline writes: on Jun 21 2006 09:02 AM I was personally holding out for a Freddy vs Jason vs Michael Myers flick. I agree that Uwe Boll is always good for a laugh. Even his name is funny, Uwe. As for his re-imaging for the series, wasn't that how they decribed Dirty Dancing Havana Nights? Wasn't Zombie working on a Crow movie at some point in time? What happened to that? That is a series that needs to be revisited without Boreanaz, Furlong and especially that whore Reed. (Reply to this) |

South_park300 writes: on Jun 21 2006 09:43 AM lol, you can't compare this to Dirty Dancing although Michael would be killed in a second in a fight between Freddy and Jason. Freddy would get in his head, while Jason punches his head off! what i'm sure zombie will do with this, is make Myers HUMAN, like he was originally supposed to be haha. like in the first 2 flicks. sauronthegr8 writes: on Jun 21 2006 06:53 PM That would be good. I like the first two the best, because they told a story that actually ended. And it should have ended there. Halloween has really sucked the last couple go arounds. I liked The Curse of Michael Myers, despite it being yet another sequel. After that it went way downhill. I like The Devil's Rejects, so I think Mr. Zombie can pull it off. (Reply to this) |

t-bagg writes: on Oct 10 2006 08:53 PM Get over it... Rob Zombie is making a Halloween movie...get over it. You're all whining about about a movie. I love horror movies and I can't wait to see this one, but I know if I didn't want to see it, I wouldn't. One thing I also wouldn't do is hole up in my apartment like a little bitch with no life commenting on movies like someone out there cares. Grow up and find a movie that appeals to you more...like Beaches, or the Notebook...and stop whining about it. Cheers to those who have confidence in Rob Zombies work, or who don't care either way. To those of you who are bitching and complaining about it, go make your own movie. (Reply to this) |

heathern2108 writes: on Nov 29 2006 10:11 AM personally, i think rob zombie is a genius when it comes to gore movies. devil's rejects and house of a 1000 corpses were amazing. i think he is capable of doing a lot more than just gore though. im really excited to see what he does with his version of halloween. the first and second were the only ones that should have been made. everything after that is just pure crap. i dont know why jamie lee curtis even signed on for the ones she did. it seems like he knows what he is doing and can really bring the series back with this version. he has so much potential to be good with horror movies also. im really looking forward to it not because its a prequel or a remake, but because i respect rob zombie and really dont think he would jump into something that turns out to be crap. everyone should stop downing that fact that he is "remaking" it or whatever and just go and see it with an open mind. stop whining about it because its going to be done whether you like it or not. give the guy a chance. henryadhesive writes: on Aug 24 2007 09:08 AM What the hell gives Rob Zombie the right to wreck such a classic horror film? I don't care what he calls it. I don't care if he's remaking it, re-exploring it, re-discovering it. It doesn't matter. One of the things that was so great about Halloween, was the fact that the viewer DIDN'T KNOW why Michael Myers was a complete psychopath. One of the things that was so chilling about Halloween was that no one knew how or why Michael Myers never died. I completely respect Rob Zombie. I'm 95% positive that this movie won't be complete crap. I'm 95% sure, actually, that it's going to be pretty damn good. Just the fact that he's rediscovering something that DOESN'T need to be rediscovered. Halloween would be better off left alone. That said, I don't believe the original movies should have gone past the 2nd or 3rd. Why the repeats? (Reply to this) |
