"Iron Man" to Touch Down in May of '08
by Scott Weinberg | June 22, 2006

Over at the official MySpace blog, director Jon Favreau clued us in on one important piece of the puzzle: "Iron Man" will hit theaters in May of 2008. That's pretty much it, news-wise, but it's not too often you see a Hollywood movie director starting forum threads like "Who would you guys like to see cast as Iron Man"?

Based on the beloved Marvel Comics hero, "Iron Man" is a project that's been bouncing around for quite some time now, but now looks to be on firm ground with the "Elf" / "Zathura" director at the helm. Check out the Space and chime in with your own casting choices.

I want a no-name cause I'm tired of hollywood stars selling films. People should see it because its Iron Man, not because Tom (I'm nuts) Cruise is the lead role. Actually.... it probably WOULDN'T sell that much if Tom Cruise was in it.

I think Cruise could do it, as long as he's not playing Tom Cruise and allows his oft-unseen inner character actor to come out.

Here's hoping that this one turns out to be a Batman Begins, rather than a Daredevil.

I agree as long as the film is character driven i think tom cruise would be a good choice. there are other actors i could see in the role too. But i think Cruise is what the film could use.

Cruise? Wearing a mask? That'l be the day. And in the space of a year, too. Hollywoods biggest star with an empty card I doubt. People can't think past their gossip mags.
