"Indiana Jones 4" Script Near Done; Spielberg Always Busy
by Scott Weinberg | June 23, 2006
Discuss Article
Master filmmaker Steven Spielberg has averaged a movie a year since the year 2000, so we understand if the guy needs to take a few months vacation, but (as usual) the guy's back burner is absolutely stuffed with alluring projects ... not the least of which is the ravenously anticipated "Indiana Jones 4."

The Hollywood Reporter recently ran a piece with new DreamWorks honcho Stacy Snider, and the article threw a spotlight on what Mr. Spielberg will be up to next:

"Snider's current task will be finding the next picture Spielberg directs. Having made two 2005 movies back-to-back, "War of the Worlds" and "Munich," the prolific Spielberg has not yet committed to his next film. But there are several projects on the drawing board, including an Abraham Lincoln biopic, an untitled space travel project at Paramount and a script by Rod Lurie set in the glitzy New York media world as well as "Indiana Jones 4," which Paramount would co-finance with George Lucas' Lucasfilm. David Koepp's script is expected in two to three months."

Click here for the full piece, which offers quite a few tidbits on the studio's impending projects ... including "Transformers," "Sweeney Todd," and ... a remake of Peter Sellers' "The Party"??

(Since 2000, Mr. Spielberg has directed "A.I. Artificial Intelligence," "Minority Report," "Catch Me If You Can," "The Terminal," "War of the Worlds," and "Munich.")

WTF
A remake of The Party. Are these guys off their f*cking heads.

There's no sane reason to remake the movie, it was pretty perfect as it was.
Hollywood should just leave Sellers alone. It's like they have this agenda to destroy the incredible body of work he and Edwards have done. :(

Superman 4....bad idea
The Omen 4...bad idea
Rocky 4...bad idea
Batman 4...bad idea

Well, you get the idea. Can anyone actually tell me a pt. 4 that was actually a good idea?

No. This concept has been done to death since the last one, way back in 1989.
I would be MUCH MORE excited if Ridley Scott announced to the world that he would be making Blade Runner 2. Yes i know, there would be riots in the streets if that were to happen. But i'm allowed to dream.

Sorry Buck, but you are off the mark on this one. Even if you personally claim to not want to see it, there are quite a number of fans eagerly anticipating Indy 4. The movie will be out Summer 2008 so we'll see this before there is a Blade Runner 2.

Lethal Weapon 3, 4 Bad Ideas
Superman 3,4 Bad Ideas
The Omen 2,3,4 Bad Ideas
Batman 3, 4 Bad Ideas

Those films should have been stopped sooner, Indy on the the other hand...

Indy 3 Excellent film....No reason why the fourth film can't be done well.

i believe Indy 4 could work. the notorious temple of doom (which i, the minority, like) has been the bump in the road for this crew of talent. indy 4 will be fine and EVERYONE will not be saying 'why?' when it hits theatres.

i like the matured indy and where it could go. seriously, harrison ford needs a career revival as he is suffering a similar fate that connery and lucas are: their careers do not age well.

ford is proving to be very two-dimensional as of late.

I'm looking forward to both Indy and the Lincoln film. I would have to say that Spielberg's best film since 2000 by far would have to be Catch Me If You Can.

Rocky 4 was one of the best in the series. I think you meant to say Rocky 5.

The Omen 2 was a decent film. William Holden and Lee Grant were excellent.

Nope, I meant Rocky IV cgcbooksm, of course, you're talking to somebody who thinks Rocky II, III, IV, and V weren't very good; but don't get me wrong, Rocky V makes IV look like a masterpiece.

You have a good point RSPimparo01. However, a lot of people would consider Return of the Jedi excellent, while the fourth film of the series (we're talking Episode One) was mediocre at best. Of course, its entirely subjective.

I just think you should quit while your ahead.

But did any of those films have people like Speilberg or Lucas backing them up...I think not so its not that fair of a comparison.

Indy 4 was a great idea up until 5 or so years ago. Now it's iffy at best.

Police Academy 4- the BEST of the series!!! just kiddin'.
Star Trek IV was pretty good.

Harrison Ford made an appearance as a +50 yr old Indy on an episode of Young Indy Chron. and he still looked good in the role. I think the filmmakers won't ignore the age factor and will tie in the issue of aging in the storyline. I'm kind of skeptical about Lucas these days; but Spielberg, I'm sure, can reel him in where his LFL cronies could not on the SW prequels.

ps- they ARE making another Police Academy--- with Guttenberg.
