The Rock Delivers a "Spy Hunter" Update -- Kinda
by Scott Weinberg | August 10, 2006

Seems like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been planning to do a "Spy Hunter" movie for quite some time now, but since director John Woo left the project, the thing's kind of been moving in circles. ComingSoon.net had a chat with Rock-man, and here's what he had to say about the delays...

From CS.net: "It's the ongoing saga of 'Spy-Hunter,'" The Rock said with a smile after being asked "that question" again. "[They're] continuing to write the script. Then we had the new Bond and 'Mission: Impossible' come out. It's just one of those scripts that you can't screw up, because the elements are so good. "I met with the writers," he told us when asked how involved he's been in getting the project moving. "Stuart Beattie was great, turned in great drafts, but it's everyone agreeing that this is the movie we want to make, and when you have a movie of that size, there's so many people involved. There's so many cooks in the kitchen and everybody's giving their opinion. If everybody's not in agreeance and it's not gelling, well then it just doesn't move forward and it just hovers and stays… and we all talk about how great it's going to be... and then you guys ask…"

Loved Collateral, but I thought Derailed had a weak little "twist" that I saw coming from a mile away, so I'm eager to see another Stuart Beattie screenplay, but....not on SpyHunter.
