One Early, Random Reaction to "The Departed"
by Scott Weinberg | August 15, 2006

Time for another test screening "review." By now you know how I feel about these things, but that won't stop me from sharing the linkage with those that might enjoy an early peek at one total stranger's reaction to Martin Scorsese's "The Departed."

Here's as far as I got: "I'm a huge fan of the site and thought it would be an appropriate time to submit my first film review. On August 9th in Edgewater, NJ, I was witness to probably the best film I have seen all year. The film is question is "The Departed" directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, with smaller parts by Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin, Mark Wahlberg and Anthony Andersen."

"The Departed" opens on October 6th.

While I'm excited by the film and it's cast, the original is one of the better films I've seen in a while and I think it will be hard to top it. Especially now that I know how things pretty much play out.

Well that's good. I'm really looking forward to this and a whole bunch of sweet looking movies which start with Hollywoodland and continue for the rest of the year.

DiCaprio needs to be DiGone
How much longer are we going to have to put Leo in the same breath as good actors such as Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon or Russell Crowe? The guy is a hack and he's never come out with a movie thats shown he has some legit acting chops since 'A Boys Life.'
