Naomi Watts to Star in Bay's Version of Hitchcock's "Birds"?

Apparently Naomi Watts is itching to become the Queen of the Horror Remake. She's already done "The Ring" and "King Kong" -- and now comes word that she might be toplining Michael Bay's new production of "The Birds."

From IGN FilmForce: "Universal Pictures and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company have been developing a remake of the Alfred Hitchcock suspense classic "The Birds" for over a year now.

The powers-that-be are reportedly eager to take the next step in the development process and attach a star. According to TMZ.com, Universal is poised to make an offer to scream queen Naomi Watts to star in the film.

The role would be the one played by Tippi Hedren in the original film. TMZ also claims that screenwriter Leslie Dixon has come onboard the pic."

Why remake something that can't be improved? The original is such a great movie and with Micheal Bay theres prolly gonna be exploding cars and over the top outrages special effects.

No actor out there now will be able to do justice to Rod Taylor's work in the original.

Instead of a Bird's remake, why not make an original film called "The Turds". What would happen if a group of people were bombarded with huge turds falling on them? Turds so powerful they could penetrate steel. Why the smell alone would kill several people. The turds would come in all shapes and sizes and some could even be radioactive. A decent screenwriter could add a love interest and some of the special effects could be real. Real turds could be supplied by the director and some of the cast members. A "Turds" sequel would no doubt follow.

The original film had exploding cars too -- at least, there was an exploding gas station.

It's clear that Bay must be stopped. I'm having a hard time recalling a moviemaker whose ways I've despised as much as his.

And from the article: "King Kong" is a horror movie? I always thought of it as sci-fi, albeit one with horror elements.

I can see it now. There's a scene where seagulls start swarming a diesel truck and the big white fog of birds causes the driver to swerve off into oncoming traffic in which a big explosion will occur as the truck flips over.

He's not directing the film. His production company is developing it. Just like Texas Chainsaw and Amityville were directed by lesser known directors, I'm sure this will be too.

But Texas Chainsaw and Amityville sucked pretty hard too. Michael Bay is in a group of filmmakers that are why Hollywood is shit today. Others would be Roland Emerich, Uwe Boll, Jerry Bruckheimer (except for Pirates of the Caribbean). They make bad movies, but they still get work. How crazy is that?

Well, I can't be all negative here. I kinda wanna see Transformers.

We can write our dsgust all we want, but in the end, all we can do as consumers, is not see this film, and not let our friends see this film. Maybe, if enough people AREN'T stupid enough to see this, then Michael Bay and his production company will be without a job. Otherwise, we will have to wait for the next piece of garbage to roll out, and not see that one.

what! for sci fi fans Roland Emmerich has done a lot for the genere, just look up his resume, he took on a lot of projects others wouldn't have. I have a lot of respect for him becuase I'm a huge sci fi fan.
