Early Talks About "Borat 2"
by Scott Weinberg | November 14, 2006
Discuss Article
With the flick doing so damn well at the box office, it's no surprise that producer Jay Roach and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen are considering their "Borat 2" options -- although it might be pretty tough sequel to make, for obvious reasons.

From MTV & JoBlo: "Roach tells MTV: "It's definitely more difficult now, and I don't know if it's even possible to go out into the world, but we have ideas. We're sneaky, clever people…There are always insulated worlds where Borat can go either on this continent or others."

I loved it, but...
This is a movie that just should not be made. I really liked the first Borat movie (saw it two days ago,) but I honestly believe that a sequel would not hold up at all. It's so heavily based on the character of Borat that a sequel couldn't be any more than a rehash of the first movie. I mean...they could do something, I guess, but it wouldn't come anywhere near the first movie's success.

I heard that they had hours upon hours of footage for the first movie. Why not shoot some scenes to make them coherant, and run with the left over footage?

good idea kinda like a Borat 1.5?

Yeah I've seen pics from the movie of him at the beach with the full body thong and that wasn't in the movie.

Is it just me, or is Borat not funny anymore. It's like when everyone caught onto the SOAP joke.

i laughed my ass off throughout borat, either i was grossed out and covering my eyes are laughing.....but c'mon a sequel and if they have loads of footage that movie was pretty short so they should come out with like an unrated version or something not use it for a sequel

I agree, there are some trailers that show him involved in what appears to be a reinactment of the Civil War. I personally think that could be funny. Here's hoping for some sort of 3-disc set with all the best footage they shot.

Actually, what makes this interesting is that it's win-win either way. If they decide not to unleash a sequel onto the world, then fine, we're spared another case of sequelitis. But if another Borat movie does happen, then they'd have to be pretty damn creative about how to go about it, thus peaking my interest.

I do not think the sequel is possible because the whole world probably know who he is. The major reason they filmed the movie is America instead of UK because every body in UK knows who Borat is and there is no way that the production team could hoax some one in front of the camera for laughs. A possible way to get this done is either send him to some undeveloped regions of the world or dress him as some one else. The movie is extremely profittable and I think it is a one time miracle that is not repeatable.
