Another New Casting Rumor for Batman's New Girlfriend
by Scott Weinberg | February 02, 2007
Discuss Article
It almost seems like a foregone conclusion that Katie Holmes has been booted from the "Batman Begins" sequel, but there's still plenty of rumors regarding who'll take her place. A few days ago we were informed that Rachel McAdams was circling the role, and now comes word that Emily Blunt has been invited to read for casting directors.

Ms. Blunt is best-known for her recent scene-stealing performance in "The Devil Wears Prada," and apparently it's that role that caught the eye of the "Dark Knight" team. IGN Movies and Cinema Blend want us all to know that the role HASN'T been cast yet, but we all know it's a whole lot of fun to play the casting game along with Christopher Nolan and company.

Cinema Blend also informs us that when Ms. Holmes left the sequel, well, let's just say it was the decision of the filmmakers -- and not of Katie herself. Or her husband.

Meh, I'd prefer McAdams. She's so hot right now.

i'm ok with this one too. Blunt has a darker looker to her which i like. I like McAdams a lot too... either way, as long as katie holmes and her nipples are countries away when this film starts shooting.

You take that back!!! I won't have any bad talk about Katie's nipples. They should have won a best supporting actress oscar. They were the only good thing about her performance actually :)

haha... very true. they were the only good thing about her performance. Sadly, i'm sure she would have won that award for The Gift.

Why is this character still so pivotal? Who cares? Batman/Bruce's love life is pretty inconsequential, unless its catwoman. Even worse, this isn't even a comic character. Get Rachel Dawes out of here.

do they even need to have Rachel in this movie anyway? just have her move outta Gotham either because she fears for her life as the D.A. or because she can't stand to watch Bruce risking his life night after night as Batman. Rachel moves out, Harvey Dent moves in and becomes Gotham's new D.A., simple as that.

and does anyone else see a little Harley Quinn in Emily Blunt, wink wink?

Katie was not horrible I just didn't like Her character. I didn't see her as a convincing D.A. she doesn't have that much
Range. Maybe as a Model or something, still she wasn't in the flick too much. As for a new batgirl so to speak its like a new bond girl. But Blunt could be Selena Kyle and Rachel could be Poison Ivy or Harley Quinn.........Thoughts?

I agree. But if Dawes is gonna be in it, I say McAdams is better for it than this chick. She's got too much darkness in her eyes. She'd be better for Quinn. My opinion though? If they're gonna drop anyone, they should drop Quinn and bring in Talia. Dye Emily Blunt's hair black and bring on the violence. That's the femme fatale ultimate for this series, and it makes sense that she would appear in this film to avenge her father's death.
