Already Talks of a Second "Batman Begins" Sequel?
by Scott Weinberg | February 26, 2007
Discuss Article
Now here's some juicy gossip to mull over while we wait (patiently) for Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" to hit theaters (next summer): Could there already be a director lined up for "Batman 3"??

Nah, probably not, but according to one delicious piece of chit-chat, it seems like "Sin City" co-director (and "Dark Knight" author) Frank Miller might want a piece of the action. It was at the New York Comic Con that someone floated the idea of Frank Miller directing a future "Batman" movie, but that's all it probably was: wishful thinking and vague possibilities.

Obviously there'll be a third "Batman" entry, right?

A third batman - hell yeah! Not sure about Frank Miller directing it though. He did the Sin City movies with Robert Rodriguez. Need a seasoned director to do this or it will turn out like the crap we've seen before.

Please god, please let Frank Miller direct a Batman movie. every good comic geek knows that Frank's variation of Batman is the greatst Batman series ever.

I dont think that. His version is pretty cool and stylized, but there are other versions I like way better. And Miller isn't a director anyway. Just get Nolan to direct it.

Of course there will be a third Batman movie
The Dark Knight is going to be huge and I pray to god that Nolan will direct the third one as well.

i love miller, but dont mess with nolan. he obviously has a vision for the dark knight and batman 3, and he has done a great job so far, let him finish it. and if miller really wants to direct a batman movie, he can use his sway and push for a The Dark Knight Returns movie, like ive been posting on every piece of batman news.

when is DC/Warners going to make the Green Lantern?

You Sir are on crack. Without Miller Batman would still be sharing longing glances with Robin and doing the Batoosy. Miller was the man who made Batman what he is.

I'm confused. Is the third Batman entry not gonna be a direct sequel to the Dark Knight (When Harvey Dent becomes twoface) that Nolan is already set up and contracted for, and it's Batman's AFTER the third one that aren't decided upon yet?

It would be savage if after the trilogy was finished Miller went for a Dark Knight Returns movie alright...

If Nolan doesn't want to come back for a third one, I think Miller would'nt be to bad of an option.

warner's HAS to get nolan signed on for the third one. HAS TO. do i have to remind anyone how great X2 was and how mediocre X3 was (granted it was singer's idea to leave X3, not fox's)? I would find it hard to believe that Nolan would want to bail on batman 3 after all the effort he's put into resurrecting the franchise...keep the consistency alive warners...

It would be cool seeing Miller WRITE the third one (or at least co-write it), but I would never want to see him direct it or any other movie. It would be too far of a departure from the other Batman's to even be remotely good.

DUH!
i dont know about you, but about two years ago, after b.b. first came out, nolan had said then that he initially had plans to create a 'trilogy arc'.
miller directing? he's great with the pen, but picking up 'batman'?......who else thinks that would be re-donk-ulous?

Miller and Nolan teaming up to direct would not be a bad idea.

As long as there's no: "I'm the goddamn Batman".

If not, rock on.

Nolan has to be involved in the third one. If say, he was exhausted from the workload or something like that (which happens), why not get Robert Rodriguez to direct and have Miller and Nolan as his right hand men? I could see the results of that labor being sexy.

Wishful thinking?
Has anyone read Miller's Batman screenplay? It's a fucking abomination.
The truth if Frank Miller is a shadow of his former self in regards to Batman.
His latest frolic through the mythos in All-Stars was an embarassment to writers abound.

Why is it Frank Miller asks that people tread very carefully through the stories and characters, through the vision and moods he creates, but doesn't apply the standard to other comics? He has no problem with unloading a massive turd on the mythos of Batman, while at the same time condemning those that wish to work on his projects.

Frank can help make it look pretty, otherwise I don't really want him touching this. Sin City's (the comic) dialog was hackneyed and choppy in the movie.

It would be good having him on board, but not as director. I mean I'm sure thats what he meant anyway. I don't think Miller would put himself over like that, especially over Nolan. It would be good to have him help write it, but Nolan has such a grip on the whole Batman series right now... it would be stupid to let him go.

let's get three good Nolan Batman movies, then let them fuck up the franchise or take big chances by getting Miller as director. Miller might have learned a few things about directing from Rodriguez and Zack Snyder, but i read Miller's script for the Batman: Year One movie and i agree with many here that it sucked donkey balls with all the changes he made to Bats' origin, and his All-Stars Batman & Robin didn't set the world on fire like DKR or Year One did. it would be great to have Chris and Jonah Nolan collaborate with Miller on scriptwriting duties and such though. the Nolans are great at adding depth and complexity to stories, while Miller adds sheer grittiness and asskickery.
