AICN: "Meet The Robinsons" Blissfully Flatulence Free
It certainly hasn't been the spring's most-hyped animated offering, but Disney's "Meet the Robinsons" is still on track for a March 30 release, and an advance screening of the studio's latest kid-friendly feature -- bolstered by voicework from Angela Bassett, Adam West, and Tom Selleck, among others -- has just received a more-or-less glowing review from Ain't it Cool News (and we all know how harshly critical that crew can be).
AICN contributor DesignDude writes:
"It offers a number of nice surprises and even a good plot twist or two without causing too much of the old time-traveling headache. The humor also works quite well, although many of the jokes seem to be aimed at adults and little kids might not get all of them...Most importantly, this film does not contain a single fart joke nor any talking animals or even animal sidekicks (except for those singing frogs you might have seen in the trailers, but they're really not the same thing)."

It'll doubtless be a multiplex memory by the time "Shrek the Third" comes along May 18, and whether you take DesignDude's effusive praise at face value is entirely up to you; still, though, it's nice to know that Disney has taken a step back from the thuddingly obvious humor and hoary old plot devices that have bogged down the studio's more recent offerings.

The director had to fight to keep the bad guy "Bowler hat Guy" in the movie, who pixar wanted to cut out. Pixar didn't make it better or worse, just different (Reply to this) |
