International "Bourne Ultimatum" Trailer Hits the Web
It seems laughable now, but in the months leading up to Matt Damon's debut as amnesiac hitman Jason Bourne in 2002's "The Bourne Identity," there was a lot of talk about whether or not audiences would accept Damon as an action hero -- or even a leading man, for that matter.
Fast forward five years, and lo and behold, action fans are waiting with bated breath for Damon's third (and presumably final) go-round as the character in this summer's "The Bourne Ultimatum," which also brings back co-stars Joan Allen and Julia Stiles. Thanks to Yahoo! Movies, the waiting just got a little easier; the movie still doesn't come out until August 5, of course, but now you can view the international trailer.

It's fairly bare-bones, as trailers go -- mainly a lot of quick-cut action shots, with a little dialogue to set up the plot -- but hey, that's really all a trailer is supposed to do, right?

It was a great break from the Wire fighting and Matrixesque slow motion fight scenes that were becoming the norm. A little bit of realism never hurt anyone. I kinda hope they find a way to work in the bit from the book where he has to go to the old Soviet spy training school. Just the concept of entire cityscapes built as replica's to train undercover agents would be a very cool venue for action and mayhem. Now they just need Affleck to pop in for a Kevin Smith style cameo :) (Reply to this) |
