International "Bourne Ultimatum" Trailer Hits the Web
by Jeff Giles | March 29, 2007
Discuss Article
It seems laughable now, but in the months leading up to Matt Damon's debut as amnesiac hitman Jason Bourne in 2002's "The Bourne Identity," there was a lot of talk about whether or not audiences would accept Damon as an action hero -- or even a leading man, for that matter.

Fast forward five years, and lo and behold, action fans are waiting with bated breath for Damon's third (and presumably final) go-round as the character in this summer's "The Bourne Ultimatum," which also brings back co-stars Joan Allen and Julia Stiles. Thanks to Yahoo! Movies, the waiting just got a little easier; the movie still doesn't come out until August 5, of course, but now you can view the international trailer.

It's fairly bare-bones, as trailers go -- mainly a lot of quick-cut action shots, with a little dialogue to set up the plot -- but hey, that's really all a trailer is supposed to do, right?

I just hope the climax isn't as nausea inducing with the handheld camera and quick cuts as the second one.

I can't wait to see the full motorcycle chase they teased us with in this trailer. I just know this is going to be awesome. August can't come soon enough.

Don't worry it will still be as shittily directed with poor actions scenes as the second, fear not.

Lay off the crack pipe my friend, say what you want about the director, but the action scenes in both Bourne movies kicked ass. It was a great break from the Wire fighting and Matrixesque slow motion fight scenes that were becoming the norm. A little bit of realism never hurt anyone.

I kinda hope they find a way to work in the bit from the book where he has to go to the old Soviet spy training school. Just the concept of entire cityscapes built as replica's to train undercover agents would be a very cool venue for action and mayhem.

Now they just need Affleck to pop in for a Kevin Smith style cameo :)
